Default Honda Civic RPM droping problem

    Dear All,
My Civic vti 2000 is very excellent and smooth on Gas and Petrol on long run,

but within the city on CNG at low speed while stopping car, the RPM drops immediately to zero and then try to stable slowly slowly.

Advancer and Emulator installed in my car and working properly.

This is very irritating for me, plz let me know that what and where the exact problem can b????

Same problem happening to me in Civic 2000 VTI.

Car sometime comes close to die and sometime rpm stays perfectly at 900 when I stop the car. At idle there is absolutely no problem it stays at 900. But during brakings in the city it sometimes come closee to 100-200 which is very irritating.
Advancer and Emulator is working fine, CNG is tuned correctly as there is no problem other than this.
Raising RPM on petrol is not a good idea coz then at petrol its idle will go to 1100.

This idle problem actually occurs when our nincompoop CNG mechs try to adjust the RPM on cng by fiddling with throttle stop screw (the small one below where throttle cable attaches to the pulley on throttle body)
Never ever fiddle with the throttle stop screw. Now by changing throttle bodies they r just avoiding the procedure to undo the f***kup of throttle stop screw & calibration of TPS.
Here is what to be done:
    1. Clean IACV, get valve clearance done (aka tappet setting)
, also set plug gap to 1mm or install new plugs without changing gap
    2. Good CNG mixture settings
    NOW THE IMPORTANT PART
    3. Check that ur throttle cable has a play/ slack of 1/2 inch, if not then adjust it
    4. Remove air Filter housing & check that ur BUTTERFLY is fully closed at idle or when engine not running, if not then either it is stuck or somebody has fiddled with the throttle body.
    5. Adjust ur throttle cable slack to fully close the butterfly. if it doesnt close fully with 1/2 inch slack then adjust ur throttle stop screw (anticlock wise/ open it) a little & stop at the setting when it just closes. dont go any further.
ALL THE SETTINGS SHOULD BE DONE WITH ENGINE RUNNING ON PETROL, NOT ON CNG
    6. Switch ON the ignition but engine OFF
    7. Get/borrow a voltmeter & connect its black wire to chasis/ good ground
    8. Connect its RED wire to TPS sensors centre wire by back probing (TPS has 3 wires)
    9. now set the voltmeter to 20 volts & note the reading. It should be at 0.5 Volts. If its not then loosen the 2 screws on TPS & slightly move it. see the voltmeter. when the reading becomes 0.5 volts, tighten the screws.
    10. Now start ur engine on PETROL & keep the rpm by accelerator at 2000 until engine reaches its normal operating temperature/radiator fan comes ON once (VERY IMPORTANT)
    11. With the air cleaner box removed set the RPM with IDLE SETTINGS SCREW (can b found on the mouth of throttle body, it may be covered by a plastic cap). Set the RPM to 600. Dont go above it.
    12. Now assemble everything back & start ur engine. the RPM should be approx 800.
    13. Look for any vacuum leaks by hearing closely. The main culprit for leakage is usually the place where the CNG pipe enters the air cleaner housing.
    14. Get a silicone sealant tube of Rs 30 & apply in liberally Because most low CNG mileage/idle problems occur because of vacuum leak/ broken housings.
    15. NOW CONVERT TO CNG
    16. adjust CNG rpm by moving the small Knob on CNG regulator. The best setting can be felt only. ideal is when engine vibration is minimum.

PHEW...... Now clean ur sweat & after saying BISMILLAH go for a test drive.
ALL This is to be done on ur own risk. dont blame me afterwards for any problems

Agreed with u irfan but what to do if rpm on petrol is perfectly normal 800-900 and on cng it doesnt maintained and comes down to 400-500 despite proper working of advancer and correct wiring and settings and no vaccum leaks in civic 6th gen.

Then its purely a CNG setting problem, good mixture settings solve it. try adjusting urself. you r already getting problems so no worries of messing up anything. after every setting test drive it. fine tune , test drive & so on. u will b an expert in a few days.

@ irfan when i bought my car i did the setting of cng by proper civic mechanic who tunes efi cars as he has scanner also so he did the setting from the iacv valve
but what he did was attach a metal piece on iacv valve which stabled the rpm on idle and i removed the metal piece and there was little movement which is called chal in urdu so there was chal in the butterfly.the butterfly attached to the piece through which accelerator wire end is connected and mechanics use to increase the rpm from engine room through that piece so i changed the throttle body

Get your throttle body serviced or DIY

    Alternatively, Carbcleaner Sprays work too...

Once done, always get the air filter cleaned once a weak, and replace it every 2000 KM...

@afridi68: I have this RPM drop problem in my 97Civic. I got it checked and the reason was that Spark Plug Wires are no more working upto the mark. Mechanics from three CNG shops checked them and told me that i just need to replace the wires. When i went to Pindi to buy these wires at Kyani autos, he had wires of "Ultima" brand. But there look was kind of "2 number" so i didn't buy. I called Dubai autos, they said we have "spitfire" but those were also not USA made original. So first thing is can u help me about this? where can i find these genuine japneese wires? (May be worth mentioning that its Exi civic, with stock engine without any modifications).
    2ndly, where can i find "LAMBDA LC-01" in Islamabad/Pindi?

Brother your CNG advancer / Emulator is not working fine also check your IACV valve if it stucks and airbox for air leak.
All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better.

My honda prosmactic 2006 exi has the same problem. Got its throttle body serviced many times but after few weeks the problem returned. So took my car to Abid car tuning workshop near Fasial town Lahore and told them the problem. They removed the throttle body for cleaning and also cleaned IACV sensor connections and most importantly they adjusted a tiny LN key screw near throttle body housing which is called the idle speed screw. Each time they adjust the screw they switched off the car and start again. After making 3 or 4 minor idle speed screw adjustments the car became so smooth and its rpm became perfectly stable. Thanks to Allah for resolving this issue for which I was struggling for the last one year. Name of workshop is Abid Tuning center 03008109402. They charged me only Rs 300 for rectifying this problem.
