Default 8th generation Civic fan and owner club

the 2006 generation Honda split the model into two different platforms, one primarily for the home market and North America and the other designed for the European market using a simpler rear suspension from the Honda Fit and more aggressive styling. As of 2006, a total of 16.5 million Civics had been sold worldwide, with 7.3 million of them in the United States.[5] Although the North American and the home market model differ externally, they are mechanically identical. The European model is available as a three and five-door hatchback while the Japanese/North American model is available as either sedan or coupe. Both Si and Type-R trim levels continue although the Japanese and European Type-R while sharing the same size engine are mechanically different. In the US an improved version of the Si tuned by Honda tuner Mugen is offered featuring cosmetic alterations and changes to the suspension and exhaust system. The Acura version of the Civic not only received the design change, but also saw a new nameplate, changing from the Acura EL to the Acura CSX. In Japan starting March 2006, the Honda dealership sales channels called Honda Primo, Verno, and Clio were disbanded, and combined into one retail dealership called Honda Cars.

    Hello everyone!
I bought my ride a few months back and today I got its oil changed for the 2nd time (it's been sparsely driven since I have bought it). Anyway, the Honda guy suggested that when I get the oil changed the next time, I should get a "General Checkup" performed, which is worth 3500 rs. Does anyone have experience what this includes? And will this cost cover any minor parts that are liable to be changed?

I went through the thread and found gas mileages being discussed. I want to know if mine is giving an acceptable mileage.
I filled my car to the brim and drove it 530 kms with the fuel gauge still showing 6 points when I filled it up again. If I assume that I emptied the tank completely when I filled it with fuel, the mileage comes out to be 11.77.
This includes around 400 kms on highway at 120 with intermittent 10 mins or so bursts of 160-180 kph.
60-70 kms of driving in Faisalabad with heavy traffic and around the same distance in Lahore on good roads. AC usage was almost constant in Faisalabad with AC even switched on at idle.
The car is a 2009 8th Gen Manual with around 60k on the odo.

    Hey Guys!

I have recently joined Pakwheels. I am looking for a car, preferably a Honda Civic 8th Gen. I wanted to know that is it a good car or not. I WOULD PREFER UNBIASED REVIEWS. I would like to know its maintenance costs, petrol mileage etc. I would probably be getting a Honda Civic Vti Oriel V-tec Prosmatic version. I would also like to know that does it compare with the Honda Accord 2003-2004 models, in terms of features, maintenance costs, petrol mileage etc.

    Thank You for your time,

    Salman.

    Welcome to pakwheels dear.
Civic is very good car, and i think its the best sedan car among all PKDM.
and if you are willing to buy civic 8th gen. then chek some basic things which every body know very well but 1 important thing is Catalytic Converter. Chek it before buying. Because new cost is 77 k.
Maintainance cost is not too much high.
And if we talk about features then accord have its own charm, but there is not too much difference between their features.
Normal fuel average is 9-10 km/l if car is well maintained.

It is easy to check if you know the location or any expert honda mechanic can do it.. when I was buying a used Civic couple of months ago ..me and the seller agreed to get it inspected thoroughly from Honda 3S in rawalpindi .. the catalytic converter was missing and steering feed pipe needed replacement .. 100k kharcha was due on the car so I was saved before hand ...

besides 3S some 2S honda dealership can also check the car for you for minimal charges.

Can any body suggest me which Break and Gear oil shoul use in 8th gen civic?
I have read here on p.w that its recommended to use Honda genuine oil but some people are saying that Honda is not making fluids, they also purchase from 3rd party.
So which brand and quality or grade should use?
