Default 8th generation Civic fan and owner club

the 2006 generation Honda split the model into two different platforms, one primarily for the home market and North America and the other designed for the European market using a simpler rear suspension from the Honda Fit and more aggressive styling. As of 2006, a total of 16.5 million Civics had been sold worldwide, with 7.3 million of them in the United States.[5] Although the North American and the home market model differ externally, they are mechanically identical. The European model is available as a three and five-door hatchback while the Japanese/North American model is available as either sedan or coupe. Both Si and Type-R trim levels continue although the Japanese and European Type-R while sharing the same size engine are mechanically different. In the US an improved version of the Si tuned by Honda tuner Mugen is offered featuring cosmetic alterations and changes to the suspension and exhaust system. The Acura version of the Civic not only received the design change, but also saw a new nameplate, changing from the Acura EL to the Acura CSX. In Japan starting March 2006, the Honda dealership sales channels called Honda Primo, Verno, and Clio were disbanded, and combined into one retail dealership called Honda Cars.

Yes yes you can. I'd suggest you to go for engine flush first.
Buy liqui moly engine flush and pour it in engine from oil filler cap. Let the car idle for 15 mins and drain the oil out and remove/change oil filter.
Then pour synthetic oil(Honda genuine one) and keep an eye on oil level. Check oil level after 2-3 days and if there are no oil level decreasing issues, you are good to go.

5w-30 is the recommended oil grade for this car. Hx7 should work fine. However shell helix ultra works also good.

Get honda oil. It is actually total lubricants oil but ull know its original.
There is one organic n two synthetic options of oils. Ranges are Rs.2200,2400,3000.
Their oil filter is 1400 but its Malaysian made.
Oil is to be changed at 5000kms n oil filter at 10000kms.

I suggest you buy OEM as I have been since 2002.

I used to have 2002 model but now drive a 2009 reborn.

AOA everyone im planning to join 8th Gen owners club Inshallah soon. I'm looking for a 2007-2010 model car in the range of 13 to 16 Lakhs. So wanted to ask a few questions:

    1) Will i be able to get a good decent car int his range
    2) What is there to check out for when buying a used 8th gen?. i have heard about its engine mounts failing and giving vibrations in the car. So what should i look out for when i go to check the car.
    3) My father will be keeping the car for 5+ years so will it be ok to keep the car fro 5+ years?
    4) Whats the average fuel consumption of the car of the prosmatec trim ?

Thanks in advance for the replies.

    @arhum1994
ive got 2010 oriel prosmatic 2 months ago for 18 lakhs.. so u have to increase ur budget..

    answer to ur queries.
    1. yes its a major drawback of 8 gen civic.. mostly its a gear mount that breaks.. all u have to do is to check whether the car vibrate on starting or on idle..
    2. it depends on ur usage n way of maintenance... honda is much reliable car n 1 can easily keep it for 5-7 years.
    3. in lahore trafic my car is giving 7.5-8 km/l ..

Thanks for the reply. I have also heard that the models after 2010 had a poorer plastic quality in the interior.

Yes the maintenance on the car will be regular Insha Allah. And yes Hondas are very reliable. Kept an 04 Honda City for 9 years and drove it for 400k kms and car ran without any hiccups or major problems.

Yes. Pre 2009 models had better interior quality as compared to new models. But there are issues in 2006-2009 models such as steering rack failure, idle pulley tensioner and bearing issues which were resolved in 2010+ models later on.

We need a proper fanclub of 8th gen. The OP is busy sleeping. The main post should be updated with details. All the knowledge on this thread should be accumulated. The solutions to all the issues faced in this cars should be mentioned in the main post so that new owners can benefit from it.

Should i write up a new one ???
