Default 8th generation Civic fan and owner club

the 2006 generation Honda split the model into two different platforms, one primarily for the home market and North America and the other designed for the European market using a simpler rear suspension from the Honda Fit and more aggressive styling. As of 2006, a total of 16.5 million Civics had been sold worldwide, with 7.3 million of them in the United States.[5] Although the North American and the home market model differ externally, they are mechanically identical. The European model is available as a three and five-door hatchback while the Japanese/North American model is available as either sedan or coupe. Both Si and Type-R trim levels continue although the Japanese and European Type-R while sharing the same size engine are mechanically different. In the US an improved version of the Si tuned by Honda tuner Mugen is offered featuring cosmetic alterations and changes to the suspension and exhaust system. The Acura version of the Civic not only received the design change, but also saw a new nameplate, changing from the Acura EL to the Acura CSX. In Japan starting March 2006, the Honda dealership sales channels called Honda Primo, Verno, and Clio were disbanded, and combined into one retail dealership called Honda Cars.

This car got hit yesterday. According to a close friends,Car was at 100+ 120-140 and a crack young guy tried to pull hand brake stunt to impress some young ladies however the car got absolutely out of control and was on way to roll over to pedestrians however they managed to escape, The driver is also safe, Airbags are popped out.

What's the odometer mileage on your car? Every 40000kms it needs the following necessarily:
    1. Fuel filter replacement
    2. Throttle body service
    3. Tuning and tapets etc
    4. PS fluid replacement
    5. ATF replacement
Aling with regular oil and filters changed.
Mine just did 120000 and all this was done again including replacement of bearings and M.A still drives good with a fine petrol average.
And PS: Try Formula1 Premium like I posted in the other thread

My 8th gen is MA 88000 km driven and giving me no major problem. However I am feeling slight karr karr sound (apparently from steering) while passing through rough patches. Any idea what could be the issue?

I could also hear that sound specially when steering turned at idle and slow speeds, not much to worry about Reborn steerings often make this sound. You might be observing it as you'd usually be driving slow on the rough surface. It is now reduced after changing Power Steering fluid, (like the list i gave above of things to do at multiple of every 40000-kms) but doesn't go completely either and stays a bit. Characteristic of hydraulic steering pumps. It's also caused as the suspension parts in 8th gen respond to a turning steering. Noticed a stand still car changing angle with steering turning.
Do check that models till 2008 had a steering pipe defect. The pipe used to crack and leak oil causing dryness which caused this noise. Check if oil level is Okay. All these mentioned might be probable cause of that krr sound.

No computer is not required if he's an expert. Computer is only needed to monitor systems and rpm settings etc only for diagnosis. If all is okay and nothing needs to be diagnosed then not required. The original fuel filter is for Rs.9000
Also if odo says 70 and you bought the car 2nd hand, don't trust it. Even with actual mileage you can't really know what maintainence has been done in past unless someone keeps a detailed history book. I have made a record in a note book other than the service book Honda provides, that will be very helpful as i can exactly check what i got did when even record from 4 years back.
The Price of Formula1 Premium is Rs.628 from Jalal Sons Lahore, same for paste and liquid each. Its a relatively new product here and i'm not sure if available everywhere easily.

Yes they are the same thing, one is in liquid form and other is paste. Get which you prefer to use. Liquid takes less time and effort slightly. I tried with a machine, used a Biloxxi for some time but the result by hand for any wax/polish is more satisfying for me than the machine. Machine only feels suitable to me if compound is needed.
About resetting the ECU, if a mechanical problem is there this solution might not help in my opinion. A mis-tuned engine, dirty throttle body or dirty fuel filter won't be cleaned by resetting ECU. So i think first the phenomenon of physical things needs to be catered for Sir Jee. To be honest i have never gotten such a resetting ECU thing done, that scares me like: what if it goes totally wrong.

And also while you're at it, get the plugs changed too. Recommended at 80k-kms, some also recommend the can last upto 100k-kms but knowing our conditions better to get done at 80k

I guess they might have not observed it. I have kept a Reborn ever since it came in 2006, the one i have now is my 4th Reborn and this thing has always been there even in stock rims.

Yes indeed, stable at even higher. I once hit a 220 while i was stupid. ISL-LHR in 2 hours 15 minutes including a red bull stop during night. Don't think i will ever even think of trying again such stupidity though but felt right at that time.
Last week i got my wheel bearings changed, at car mileage 120,000-kms. And the head mechanic told me if you drive it permanently at a journey for more than 150 constantly, that can also cause wheel bearings to heat up and will need replacement. I inquired further like how long. He said don't stretch it constantly at such speed for more than 50 kilometres distance as its not a Porsche but a Civic. Despite the capability the engineering quality, all things have a certain relative level of durability and sustainability.
