the 2006 generation Honda split the model into two different platforms, one primarily for the home market and North America and the other designed for the European market using a simpler rear suspension from the Honda Fit and more aggressive styling. As of 2006, a total of 16.5 million Civics had been sold worldwide, with 7.3 million of them in the United States.[5] Although the North American and the home market model differ externally, they are mechanically identical. The European model is available as a three and five-door hatchback while the Japanese/North American model is available as either sedan or coupe. Both Si and Type-R trim levels continue although the Japanese and European Type-R while sharing the same size engine are mechanically different. In the US an improved version of the Si tuned by Honda tuner Mugen is offered featuring cosmetic alterations and changes to the suspension and exhaust system. The Acura version of the Civic not only received the design change, but also saw a new nameplate, changing from the Acura EL to the Acura CSX. In Japan starting March 2006, the Honda dealership sales channels called Honda Primo, Verno, and Clio were disbanded, and combined into one retail dealership called Honda Cars.

If they insist and ask to let them check your things under hood, tell them I'm in a hurry and you just want computerised adjustment at the moment and rest can be done later.

Allrite guys here the update .After researching all night i fixed my rpm problem and yes i did reset the computer (ECU) the proper way at home .So this how i did it

    1.disconnected the neg terminal .
2.Take a wire and touch one end of the neg ter and one end of the positive ter for about 10 secs

3.leave the car terminal off for about 20 mins but i left it for 30 mins since i started compounding my right fender .

4.attach the terminal back and wait a 2 mins before the next step .

5.put the key in the ignition 2 but dont start it leave it for about 10 sec so that the computer can get ready to fuction.

6.and then finally start the car with every electrical thing off .

    7. leave it start for about 20 min so that the ecu can feed all the data .when the fan starts everything is back to its factory position .

my rpm are back to where is suppose to be ....

so happy ab sonay laga hoo good night ..

Every time I need to start my civic I do this. Anyone else does this?
    Read below
I keep my car key in the ON position untill engine check light and airbag light turns off.
After that I turn the key to start the car.
I Never start it without this procedure.
A mechanic from honda factory told me to do this.

Well. I don't know. But the engineer from honda factory said it is good to do this and I do.
I did not ask the reason.
Waisay when u turn the key in ON position. Injectors start their work by spiting fuel and if you wait about 5 seconds. Your car should start sooner than not waiting for it.

The lighy takes much longer than 5 seconds, i just wait for a slight buzzing sound which goes away in a few seconds and then start. Car mileage is above 121,000 till today and (touchwood) never any unusual problems for starting without completely waiting the check engine light going out before starting. I just wait for that slight buzz sound to end.

Well I do and it has run 95,000 never missed a beep. No suspension work required. Everything in the right order.

I do change its engine oil between 2500 n 3000kms.

Baki every 40K tuning filters n fluid change.

    Air filter changed before 7k.

Bought it new from dealership n always maintained by dealership.

    Engine oil 5w30 API SM.

Oil filter used for two oil changes. Honda says to use their oil filter for 10000kms. I use it for 6 max

    salam
I found sudden drop in petrol average to 12.29kmpl with ac this time. Usually i get 15.50kmpl and above on my trip every weekend mostly with ac on. So today i went to Honda Avenue for tuneup and throttle service as well as cat con service. it took almost 3 hours approx. to do tappet, plugs, throttle, computerize checkup and gear oil change, surprisingly catcon was in perfect shape all clean so they left it saying no need to service. by the way it was first time to check catcon and 66000 kms clocked on ODO today.

    Hello people!
I have an 8th gen civic and after every 8 months or so i seem to lose all my AC refrigerant(gas) and my AC starts losing its performance then i get it filled up from my mechanic but he doesnt hook up that vacuum machine to remove air in the system..is that alright or shuld i ask him to put the vacuum machine and then fill the gas???
Another problem im facing is a whine from the engine belt area around 1k to 2k rpm..no whine at idle..can it be from the adjuster pulley or something else how can i identify what is making the whine???..

The 8th Gen does not have an engine belt. It works with an enclosed timing chain which does not need to be adjusted or replaced. The chain does get lubricated by engine oil and if the oil is not right or due for change, that can cause this timing chain to whine. Sort of a rapid knocking type
However there is an alternator belt which should not be the cause of whine as it is not exactly dependent on engine rpm.
If by whine you mean a slight vibrating continuous noise that may be there for two reasons as per my experience, a) Engine mount or also in some cases b) the metallic hood support stick gets loose in its plastic clip and vibrates at certain points making the noise. Another scenario would be the noise significant during slight steering movements while driving which is caused due to steering pump exerting extra force if your pipe has leaked, this one should also be there if you turn steering at idle as well. In my opinion it probably is an engine mount which was a defect with 8th gen.
If its none of these then i guess some experienced guru should jump in to help our fellow here.

As far as the AC is concerned, the performance does get affected by AC cabin filter too which needs to be replaced on yearly basis. If the gas goes out, that may be a weak spot which leaks. The metallic pipes carrying gas are sort of sensitive specially at joints which connect different hardware related to AC piping. Also a few 8th gen have compressor issues.
But incase of a compressor problem, it works fine for a few minutes then starts throwing normal air out of the vents, if the AC button is switched OFF for a minute or so and switched ON again it again starts working fine for a few minutes. The process can be repeated (ON-OFF-ON) in such a scenario of faulty compressor. Observe if this is the case.

Bro the engine mount was replaced by honda free of cost so im sure that isnt the problem..and its not a vibration its a sort of whine or purring the same sort of sound that cats make when they are about to indulge in a fight..and i always thought that the alternator belt moves faster as we increase the engine rpm but u said its not dependent on it..

The hood support is also a kind of purring vibration sound when engine bay gives it a slight vibration. Wrap it with tape or cloth temporarily to check.
If not I guess you should get both issues checked from honda in these cases once. They will charge a lot for the same job but diagnosis will be better as compared to a normal mechanic. Or you can just get a diagnosis from them and once issues diagnosed properly, then revert to someone else for repair works.
I hope the car wasn't hit at any point from the front, even a slight bump into something at front end (like a very minor hit) can sometimes damage the piping/joints since condensor is located close to radiator at the front ends, AC pipes are non flexible and made out of metal which are hard and usually don't have margins to flex or absorb a jerk
