Altis fuel average is better than civic for sure... Difference is 2 Km / liter

Frankly, this is quite surprising to me. I am guessing the lesser fuel economy you are getting might be because of some energy wastage in the PT and some due to the car's engine being brand new (the "break-in period"). I'm sure the fuel economy will improve after the first few thousand kms. Please keep us posted!

I'm going to assume that if we compare the fuel efficiency of MT Civic vs. a MT Altis, the Civic should win (at least in theory) because of the added electronic lift control of the valves. Any opinions?

    Hello Rizwan brother,
first of all congratulations on having this beauty. I might contradict with the choice of the colour but anyway its your call.
I am having a manual vti oriel since last few months. Its in white colour and believe me this car looks like a queen in that. Anyway I noticed a few issues in your thread like the issue of having good tyres, I would recommend yokohama dB for that.
Coming over to the consumption thing, this particular model of honda operates under a myth, first I didn't believe it either but than i actually experienced it. Till approximately 10,000 km the car will run on a higher consumption average but as soon as its above that the consumption will significantly improve. Now my car gives the average of 13-14km/liter on motorway with an average speed of 135-140 km/hr.

Regarding the issue of seats I agree that backseats are not as comfortable as they should have been...it rather gives a bumpy ride(maybe coz I have a manual one)

Regarding transmission, I love manual and its fun to drive it.
Other than the back seating issues this car really rocks. I love its cockpit style coz its so roomy and comfortable. I like the indash cd-changer coz of sound quality and its button lighting in the dark.
I hope that I helped you all in some way in this discussion. And once again congrats on becoming the owner of this beauty.

+1 my ivtec engine started giving amazing average after 5000 service..at then instead of honda oil i started using shell helix ultra which had very positive affect on fuel consumption

I will suggest not to keep an eye on fuel consumption guage! Just drive the way you usually drive for first 5000 - 10,000. Dont use Honda lubricant; its not good quality. Use some synthetic oil and try to get it from some company operated pump / shop. Try to keep the tank above 50% and always get fuel from the company operated pump! I bet you will start noticing marginal improvements after 5000. And dont forget the free checkup; especially 5000 one; they do some computer checking/tuning!
