Black cars look magnificent but very difficult to keep clean

Parking lots can get messy ... When I reach my office, driver washes the car, and puts on the insulated cover. Just before leaving the office, the cover is removed and car cleaned again .. that is a lot of hassle to keep a car clean from dust, and scratches by jealous individuals.

Has anyone noted that too much scratches/lines appear in the back of door handles; especially in Silver and Black color. In the office car parking I see this often and same happened with my City.

Khokar Bhai, first of all I would like to thank you for your joining us in this thread. In actual, you "laadli" thread gave me the inspiration to create the Viper. Hats of to you and all the members (specially those who have really guided me well) because there were so many things I never knew, so many ideas I dropped and many have been taken note of. This saves you time, hassle and above all money in the long run.
As for the observation, well, side skirts besides a sho sha thing (IMHO) can safe guard vehicle sides. Unlike Corolla jiskay sides agar damage ho bhi jain tu new lag sakte hain, however in Civic I won't like the sides to be dented etc. Thats why. With that load as mentioned Viper DID get slammed at a lttle but MAYBE because of stiffer suspension it held up. I can't give a fatwa that it wont hit bumps.

Sir, I respect and agree with your viewpoint without a doubt or debate. But I resort to PM for following reasons:
    1. If a member asks for confidentiality by sending you a PM in the first place.
    2. Avoid making the thread a business center and restrict it to ideas and member contributions.
    3. Any other issue which will divert the thread to futile arguments and quarrels.
    4. In case of an update that I would like the members to take note of.

Rest, I am of the opinion, that everyone has the right to know and share his view points.

    Just a little Comparison:

    1. Honda SATNAV (Delivered Vehicles): Rs.80,000/- with Rear Camera

    2. Honda 6-CD In-Dash Player (Used): Rs.15,000/- (Approx)

    3. Rockmars Unit (Non-Nav) New: Rs.20,500/- with Rear Camera

    4. Rockmars Unit (With Nav) New: Rs.27,500/- with Rear Camera

I dont really require Nav but dont mind having it as a feature, I dont watch movies on 7" touchscreens but I do crave for a Bluetooth and iPod connectivity. Uptil now, I never used a Rear View camera, as a feature I could use it BUT I'm sure despite having a rear view camera I would still be requiring side mirrors and relying on my neck. So whats the poll here guys?

Cruise control becomes kind of a necessity when you travel on highways. It is so easy to go faster than the limit, and it results in fines...

I would love Cruise Control (Naam Hi Kaafi Hai) but I would pretty much fall asleep with no movement of the limbs (Qasam Se)

Come on ... Don't do this please!!!

I really like this thread ... good conversation between friends ... The last thing I would like to see in this beautiful thread is to see it going down the drain with Honda vs. Corolla rivalry triggering off

We need to understand that they are different cars with different specs ...

Once we bring Honda vs. Toyota controversy, then it will be like ...

Notice that both side mirrors are different in size and dimensions too. They look cool and the videos are of Thai Civic so somebody must be knowing where to get these locally

I am also confused; Oriel Audio System, Rockmars; OEM Navigation or some Computer in Car thing. What I have planned is; get the Oriel Audio System in first stage (15k investment); atleast it will "complete" the interior and then in second stage either get Rockmars/OEM Navigation or some Computer in Car thing. I might go in Computer in Car thing route.
    • iPod/Bluetooth is not important for me personally; as using Nokia N97 as my music device with its whooping 32Gb storage and built in FM transmitter it works with all Audio System
    • City/Corolla like realtime fuel consumption guage is important; if not bar chart like thing atleast digital meter showing the figure. Choosing Computer in Car thing route will allow me to save 15k or so for ScanGuage like gadgets as well as I can hook the computer in car to its OBD port; and it would really be fun exploring OBD protocol and doing some related programming

I met the local senior electrical engineer of Honda dealer. He refused to help / install on contract any Cruise Control kit. He said that one can do it on its own risk; as it involves interfacing with ECU; so warranty will definitely gets void and one should do this after the warranty period.

I have stopped thinking about this now therefore

Fouad Bhai .. it is honour for me to know you and to contribute in your thread ..

I had always thought that I knew about cars .. but after joining PakWheels, it has really become an inspiration to know so many new friends, and share our common experiences, and knowledge .. I must say, I have learnt a lot, and I continue to learn on everyday basis. I must say the spirit behind PakWheels is sharing of our common enthusiasm.

About the side skirts and other external modifications, let me share experience of Laadli ... Usually, I am the only one in family riding the car every day. So weight is not an issue. However, with changes as a result of modification from GLi 2010 to Laadli, issues do crop up many times.

Even with an empty trunk, the load comprises about 60 kg (or perhaps more) of CNG kit, about 50 kg of the twin subs, and approximately 55 kg of gasoline in the tank (I always keep the tank full) ... Now all this weight at the tail end of the car, results in substantial weight increase. Now if you look at Laadli from the side, it appears that its suspension has been lowered, but this is not the case.
    New Stuff2011 Civic VTi &quotVIPER" -230049

MashaAllah, Laadli looks very fine. But when I move with my family, I need to be extra careful. Indus Corolla cars have slightly more ground clearance than models elsewhere in the world. However, still in many areas, this is not enough. I have a close relative living in Rawalpindi ... enroute there are so many poorly constructed speed breakers. I have to slow down and cross the speed breakers diagonally to avoid touching of the vehicle underside (I learnt this diagonal crossing technique while driving my Ford Mercury .. you might have seen the photo in Laadli thread ... it was 18'6" long and crashed onto every speed breaker ) ... sometimes the diagonal crossing is not possible due to oncoming traffic from opposite in a crowded and congested city like RWP

^^^ I just stopped the plan of adding side skirts in light of the good suggestions as a result of healthy debate. Secondly, the vendors just told me the side skirts are not sold individually

I personally think; side skirts look good on Corolla; as its bit higher car. Side Skirts give it a lowered look or may be in past SE Saloon and now Altis etc comes with OEM side skirts and adding this start giving the GLI look of its bigger sister. Civic is already a lowered car and doest need such thing.

Bhai .. let me share my bit of experience with you. I installed a DVD unit in my car in June last year. It was without navigation. I visited a Toyota outlet and the salesman recommended a DVD HU with navigation. I sold my previous unit to my PA in office (he has an XLi 2010), and got the navigation unit installed in Laadli. It came complete with maps of Pakistan and one year warranty. I thought I paid a higher price, but after some months, the HU developed display problem. It was under warranty and Toyota replaced it with another new HeadUnit . It has been working perfect since then. However, we need to understand that these navigation units are made in China, and their sound quality is not upto the level of branded units. If perfect sound quality is your priority, then think several times before you consider buying these units whether from Honda or from the market.

The maps are an issue. The after market units that you have mentioned do not come with installed maps. The maps are provided by Naqsha.Net and their cost is Rs. 11,000. The maps come on a 2 GB SD card, and the maps are locked for use with that particular unit only. I believe that the navigation unit installed by Honda has the maps, while you will have to spend extra money to buy maps from naqsha.net. This issue of cost of maps must be considered. Without maps, it would be totally useless to buy a chinese head unit with navigation.

Uptil now, I never used a Rear View camera, as a feature I could use it BUT I'm sure despite having a rear view camera I would still be requiring side mirrors and relying on my neck. So whats the poll here guys?
