This should give a good result. The steering wheel of 8th Gen. civic is kinda sporty wrt its style and size. Local, ready made covers can not do justice to the looks. Waiting to see the end result.

^^ On the site they have listed the Pakistani dealers; and Rockmars units are available in local markets easily for right hand Civic. We just need to check with dealers if there is any latest unit available. The latest one will definitely have more features and better CPU/memory etc (behind the scene this is mini-computer after all)

As far as the maps are concerned; its on SD card; and if some member has it; the contents can be copied easily to the other SD card. As mentioned earlier @rizwan400 bh offered to provide them for FREE in some other thread and one can PM him for details etc. My knowledge is limited; as I dont have the device or any hands on exposure.

Actually I have been following your thread right from the start. Just felt a bit reluctant to post because of .. you know potential Panipat ka Maidaan stuff ... Honda vs. Toyota larai ...

InshaAllah, I will be visiting regularly .. bashart-e-zindagi

Khurram, You read my mind already. The door sills idea has been dropped because of low quality. Not even replicas are available. Ambient (courtesy) lighting is next.

    • Please do check with your local dealer; as it involves cutting/installing new wires; get it confirmed it doesnt void the warranty etc
    • Please do check the color first by simulating; there are cheap LEDs (chinese blinking laryan) available that you can place under the dash to decide which color suites more.

I think without the kit you should not proceed; local karegar and self created material will ruine the new car!

Khurram Bhai, I have seen the posted video closely. I am not sure that there would be exactly the same thing in Mong Kok i.e. with the proper grips having appropriate pin structure, but LEDs for interior illumination would be available.

What I have observed from this video is that there is no rocket science involved in this kit but yes a drawback of drilling holes in the car do exist. These are simple LEDs and the only difference is that they are not making a "spot" and the light is dispersing. That has been achieved with the help of the rough surfaced translucent plastic cover on the LEDs which is preventing them to make a spot.

This thing is a simple DIY which wont cost much at all. As far as the wiring is concerned, it'd be a piece of cake. The plus point could be that you can have your desired amount of LEDs placed at your desired places and you have a flexibility to make it according to your specifications so that the dash board remain un-drilled.

I and a friend of mine actually did this thing with his Daewoo and trust me, there was no spot and the end effect was exactly the same. I am posting a picture, I did this long long time ago with my Alto. The spots that you can see are there because I wanted them. The size and area of focus could be changed manually without any trouble. I did this DIY in blue and red. The picture was taken from 6600 at night so it is not that clear but you can have an idea.

    New Stuff2011 Civic VTi &quotVIPER" -230374

Now, what I'd suggest you is that before spending money on buying this kit, just go to your regular auto accessories shop and ask him to give you the LED that they stick on the front pillar while installing a security system. That particular LED is normally enclosed in a black plastic cover with a blue translucent area. Just connect the wires to the battery (do check the voltage and ampere requirements as you'd be connecting directly) and try to hide it under the dash board. Compare its result with that you have seen in the video. If it works, I am sure you can get those LEDs with ease and connection; just a parallel connection among the LEDs and a simple joint with the parking light wire and you are done.

And yes, if you are not happy with the end result, you can always let me know. I still have one month in HK.

Thanks Saad for the suggestions...Cant say what Fouad Bh decides; but I will refrain from letting anyone drill/play-around with new car' interior unless we have proper/verified things like in that kit. I dont have good expereince of getting such things done from local market. They always leave khit phit sounds in the dash.
