Okay boys. Here's the deal. I am thinking of changing Viper and replacing it with either of these three options in order of priority as per my budget:

    1. 2015 Toyota Corolla 1.3 Gli A/T (18.47,000/- NEW)
    2. 2015 Toyota Corolla 1.6 Altis A/T (19,72,000/- NEW)
    3. 2014 Honda Civic i-VTEC Prosmatec (Price Varies)

Apart from resale, what do you suggest in terms of quality of material used, structural integrity, drive and handling, comfort etc.
I will be (Inshallah) up sizing the tyres/wheels to 17" or 16" depending upon which rims I like. So dampers are a big concern for me. While I could like without air bags, immobilizer is a deal breaker for me. I MAY reconsider parting with immobilizer but somebody has to really convince me on that.
So please contribute and without waging a war help me decide.

Also, those interested in Viper could PM me for the purchase.

I'm in a state of "SHOCK" after knowing about the first two options 😳 I don't think you'll feel at home in a corolla after being behind the wheel of a 8th gen. For years.

Bro it's not a biggie. I myself have gone for option 2 after driving 8th gen for 2 years. New corolla is a good car.

But will I really miss that rumbling sound of a manual tranny R18 in a Corolla 1.3 A/T. Those tyres biting into the asphalt? That instant pick or acceleration that leaves Premio and Prius into the dust? Tell me

You will surely miss those in a corolla!

1.3 Corolla AT is even slower than a 1.3 Prosmatec city.

I was in same situation back in 2014 and was driving 8th gen manual and wanted to upgrade and corolla Altis grande was launched at that time. Got a civic base model manual again and I'm really really happy with my decision. Corolla is also a good car but that dull looking interior and awful looking tyre gap is a big big turn off.

I'd suggest you to go for new Civic without any second thought. Pick and fuel economy of 9th gen civic is even better than 8th gen.

^^^ I was discussing with @Spano yesterday about the situation. Immobilizer is a big feature in my opinion. So are the steering wheel audio controls. Cruise control could be added later. Plus even in the base model you get the airbag. Does any one know if the 2015 Civic facelift is around the corner??

While a change is a change, may not always be better or superior. I fail to understand how the newer Corolla could be more aerodynamic than the current 9th Gen Civic. Anyway, Im not steeping into a war b/w the two. I'm just considering the three options I posted. Will appreciate member's opinions and help.

I would second what our fellow member (SK_Kingpn) has mentioned above. The fact of the matter is, Corolla has always been a step below civic when it's comes to driving Dynamics and that wow factor when you are behind the wheel of a civic plus I believe one can do a lot more to a civic than to a corolla in terms of improving handling, looks and the overall attractiveness of the car.

That rumble, instant pick, tires biting the asphalt, prius and premio into the dust... You'll get them all. BUT... Opt for the Altis cruisetronic CVTi. Below that, I am not sure. Altis 1.6L isn't a boring car but that does depend on how much of a formula one person are you.

If you drop corolla for its grip, mark my words: You will find nothing like that in the 9th gen either. No big difference in grip after aunda tweaked this thing, I find altis better in quietness and comfort over the 9th gen.

If you drop corolla for the immobiliser thing, well, bad times can come to you in anyway. Naseeb main na hoi to 9th gen bhi nahe rahay gi aur s class bhi nahe rahay gi. Naseeb main hoi to CG125 bhi koi nahe le jata, been having corolla since 2008. ALHAMDOLILLAH, meanwhile recently a civic 9th gen snatching case was reported on pakwheels.

So its just a matter of opinion, I just couldn't prefer the ugly tail lights and fish shape of 9th gen over the current corolla, whereas I sold a brand new altis MTSR in 2010 and got a white oriel manual the next day...! 9th gen is indeed a good upgrade for people who have personal issues with corolla but for me, Altis over the 9th gen civic anyday anytime.

Baaki sir, you can find dropped, lowered, slammed, body kitted corollas all over the web, you can decide better for your own preference.

Default New stuff 2011 Civic VTi "Viper"

I have no intentions to start a typical civic vs corolla war here in this thread and will try to give my sincere opinion as I've owned latest Corolla cvti as well.
There is still a difference between brakes of both civic and corolla. Hard brake a corolla at 120 and on the other hand civic. You will find a lot of difference.
In simple lingo "Corolla agay se bethna start ho jaati hay" while civic remains stiff and sticks to the road.
Pkdm Honda is and will always remain step ahead of pkdm Toyota in terms of road grip and stability and its a known fact. Take a sharp turn on a 9th gen civic and a Corolla or pass a corolla over a speed breaker and you will get my point.
However After driving a manual transmission civic, I don't think you would like a lifeless CVT transmission at all.
Corolla CVTI is a good car for those who want a smooth lifeless car with abnormally soft suspensions and for those who drive in villages frequently.
@OP I'd suggest you to test drive both Civic and Corolla and then decide between 1.8 Altis and Civic. Discard 1.3 AT corolla from your list as it's not worth the upgrade at all.

Sir you can see my GLi AT thread for a first hand review of the car, and yes it is pretty much unbiased. Every car has its pros and cons but there is nothing like 1.3 GLi AT is "under-powered" or "sluggish" or as some say "it can barely move", these are all baseless rumors coming from people who have not even driven this car once.

+1 New corolla is a much better car than the new civic, Also the Altis Grande has been a massive hit in market, Civic takes the lead only in a couple of additional goodies like climate control and dual airbags, But Grande itself has a better Exterior, Interior, Ride Comfort and quality.

That's not even much of a "lead". Only the extra air bag counts. Nothing else. It's like 120k expensive than the grande and you have to pay another 75k for that dump crap navigation with a useless reverse camera and 50k for interior leather.

Interior plastic quality is a miserable failure with cheap plastic panels, the door handles look so pathetic painted in stupid spray can silver. Dashboard plastic is BS.

Corolla has much better quality interior finishing and is much more spacious.

Climate control isn't featured in the base model which also lacks fog lights and cruise control. To me, altis is still a better choice. Even if the OP does go for civic, he will be going for a used one and that won't have climate or cruise controls.

Drive quality, comfort and killer looks, altis takes it all. It was baseless to prefer 10th gen corolla over the 8th gen civic since 8th gen simply ruled. After that, 9th gen was a good upgrade over the 8th, but now that altis grande has struck with all its glory, preferring 9th gen civic over it is totally baseless.
