You Will Be Remembered.........
Khurram what I actually had in mind was some kinda arrangement like that of Khokhar bhai (the steering add on controls thing) paired with Rockmars
- You want to receive cell phone calls from Steering Control? For this I guess Nokia like device that Khokar Bhai has posted is required
- You want remote control for Rockmars for its Audio / Radio; I beleive it must have comes with one?
- You want to control Audio / Radio functions of Rockmars from steering? The above Civic Steering Controls are the best; if we can arrange it somehow
So Khurram, lets have a glimpse of your wish list.
Fouad Bhai, this is the link Nokia UK - Accessories - Car Kits It shows prices of different models. I like CK-200 because I find it more aesthetic.
This system integrates with the car entertainment center (headunit) and you hear the voice from car speakers.
I am also installing this noise reduction microphone with the new system in my car
This microphone will be installed on the driver side sun visor.
An issue with chinese DVD/ navigation units is that they are originally manufactured for left hand drive vehicles. Their microphone is on the left side. I have noticed that driver has to lean towards the set so that the called person can hear him clearly. It is okay on the passenger side .. but as it is meant for the driver primarily, so this is an issue.
After I finish this upgrade, I will be able to use three phones in the car.
It is difficult to find Nokia car kits in Pakistan, so I have asked a friend to get me CK-200 from UK.
In one of the shops in Jinnah Super, I saw a very old model Nokia car kit for Rs. 15000. It was not worth it. In that shop I saw a Sony Ericcson kit as well, but it was not good as well. Many wired kits are there, but Bluetooth is preferable.
Fouad Bhai, you need this item to integrate steering volume control buttons with the head unit. It costs US$ 40
Joycon EX Steering Wheel Interface
Plus you need these test buttons (US$ 5) for testing the connections with your steering buttons
Joycon EX/EXR Test Buttons
The Chinese stuff is not really bad. I am using Motevo installed by Toyota and its performance is perfect except for the audio quality. For normal users it is okay, but since I am building an SQ system, it needs better quality of output from the headunit.
I think these sets are good value for money. We don't find comparable features in branded sets. Even the top of the line branded systems do not have as many features as these chinese sets.
Just take a look at this top of the line Alpine INA-W900 Alpine Electronics, Inc.alpine.com | Product Info > GPS Navigation Receiver INA-W900 (North America model)
It does not have all the features that you see in the chinese DVD/ navigation sets. It costs 1000 dollars. over and above, you will still need to buy maps.
Of course Alpine gives excellent sound quality, but at some point you have to make compromises. As I said in an earlier post, there is no perfect headunit in the market so far.
Pioneer generally enjoys good reputation .. but it has considerable lag in playing DVDs .. I am talking about 4250DVD and 6050 models ..
Khurram Bhai ... BT connection is required between headunit and your phone ... between the headunit and the steering controls you need wiring harness.
You have shown Honda harness which must be very expensive and probably difficult to find in Pakistan.
I gave a 40+5 dollar alternative which should work great for linking headunit with the steering controls. There might be other products ... I just mentioned one. However, you will either have to import it or request someone in USA for the same.
Having severe flu and cough; had temperature in morning...Could not go to Lahore Bhetay Bhetay Keera Ho Raha Tha; revisited the tyre shops!
I have found VIPER like 16" rims; smuggled set for 40,500; the tyres options are Maxxis (205/55 for 9500 a piece), Goodyear Dura (205/55 for 10k a piece) and Dunlop SP Sport (205/60 for 8600 a piece). Please suggest should I proceed with any of this or stick with recently purchased Goodyear Assurance (195/65/15)
16" tyres feels hard so hesitated...I havnt yet purchased the rims; interested in knowing should I go with them? and with which tyres?
^^ Depends upon how much comfort you are willing to sacrifice when it comes to narrowing the aspect ratio or sidewall. You can even it out with high grade tyres but then the tyres+rims set is gonna cost you almost 80k. (Rims=40,500/- and Tyres=40,000/-). Also check with the vendor is he going to charge you for the restocking/return of your newly purchased tyres?
Restocking/Return is not issue; will use existing 195/65/15 Goodyear Assurance thing in some other car!
How is Dunlop SP Sports?
