Feedback from some Civic experienced member is welcomed, Is there any way we can install something for real time fuel consumption? I can bet the infrastructure must be there in ECU/OBD etc...

True!! We'd love to have experts helping us out here......ECU/OBD
I guess its there in the facelifted version. Still not sure, let me dig up my files, got an official Honda Civic brouchure I don't know of which country but I think it had both EPS and Real-Time Fuel Average Calculator

So, as a layman, you'd have to change the meter unit (No problem maybe), you may be able to play with the ECU/OBD but what about the wiring, which I haighly doubt would be pre-existing in our models

I am software engineer by profession; ideally I would like Rockmars like in-dash computer but not running proprietry operating system; something like Symbian, Android or Windows CE etc which can be programmed...Linux and Windows etc not suitable due to longer boot-time etc. It should have touch screen and couple of USB / Serial ports to which we can hook external devices like GPS and OBD-2-USB or OBD-2-Serial devices. If such device exists from some known and well reputed vendor; I can program and develop ScanGuage like software.

The benefit of having such "general-purpose" carputer will be that we can use single device as Audio/Video and such tech purposes and avoid cluttering the car interior.

We are lucky to have you around. At a later stage of the project I would like to hook up my Mac Mini with built-in Bluetooth and Wireless N, running Mac OSX Snow Leopard with 4GB DDR3 and 120GB SSD. Although there are loads of videos about doing it yet I'm not sure if the Rockmars or Dellson units would have an AUX IN which embed into the dash perfectly, so as to support my computer. Any ideas?

Running normal PC/Mac in car is not recommended, as you will be requiring DC - AC conversion, PC/Mac being Hard Disk based system very prone to driving condition and frequent start/stopping of car may harm the system and/or operating system.

Ideal device should be similar to smart phones...and should also have similar OS as they are optimized for faster boot and low memory and runs from flash. Symbian, Android and Windows CE are more open and allow low level programming than iOS (iPhone/iPod etc)

But isn't this 1000 times better than Atlas Honda 78k Navigation system? You can use this unit as Navigator as well...There is already one guy who is offering https://www.pakwheels.com/forums/car...oid-blackberry so you dont need GPRS or other internet connectivity!

Umar91 you are absolutely right. My choice of colour too, was Polished Metal. Honestly, despite the grooming products and weekend projects of detailing the ride, I dont think dark colours will be able to sustain the dust, sunlight, pollution and lack of understanding of the local service wallas and will show swirl marks and dullness more quickly. So had to do what the Romans are doing. Thanks for appreciating and do chip in your suggestions.
By the way Honda's Albaster Silver is more shiny and appealing than the classic siver I had in 2010 GLi.

My wife literally became angry when I booked silver car (for the fourth time in a row). Kept silver Cultus (2004-2009), City (2009-2010), Corolla (2011 few days) and now Civic.

The good thing about silver is; it dont look bad even if you dont clean the ride for weeks which I tend to...as i dont like getting my car cleaned from "safai walas", chokidars or drivers...rather prefer to leave it as is..and get it washed properly in a month or so and after six month or so when you get the car polished...silver looks best for days!
