YUP and i will try my level best to ensure that the colour is changed and after seeing the halat of the seats in your thread well i am about to cancel them
yoooooooohoooooooo.... i just called the headquarter and talked to the pa telling him to do anything for the cause..... JOB DONE the bad is that dadd came to me for color choice and everything was my choice initially so i feel idiot
Fouad bhai wat were the price tags of the taillights and HIDs
fouad bhai with all options civic i have the budget of 1.50 lac so i must keep that in mind while performing the project
howz the name CYCLONUS fouad bhai
alright going to put some mothers three step wax setup on my swift will report back in a few hours.... bubye
Fouad Bh congrats on acquiring the "Steering Audio Controls" (Y) Qasim is really a gentleman; I had an interaction with him few weeks back for rims / Oriel CD Changer etc. I had to travel a bit so preferred getting the car registered first leaving with "Budget Khasara" that I hope @fireblade understood! Your car's interior is now also getting pimped up Are you coming to Kallar Kahar?
Welcome back Fahad...good to know new car is being booked; my vote will be to keep the OEM SAT NAV included in the order. Leather Interior as discussed in this thread is not worthy.
"Car Computers" sounds "cool" but I think not practical in long run. If installed in 2DIN they definitely are prone to heat, elsewhere too much wiring. Hard disk being a moving part is also prone to bumpy roads. Secondly choosing Operating System and "Shell" is also issue. There are still many missing pieces Have you guys seen Windows 8 teaser? It will be coming with the touch / tablet optimized "Shell" and they are working to make it run on "System on Chip" (like ARM) as well as making it light (battery friendly, fast boot etc)
Sorry for my intrusion Khurram Bhai ... Just a couple of comments ...
Car computers have special requirements .... We have to limit the footprint of the operating system on the hard disk and other system resources .... there is a software available for stripping down Windows XP, and Windows 7 to reduce it to bare essentials.
We all like more RAM .. but in case of car computers we should not be ambitious, because everytime we shut off the computer, the data in RAM will need to be written down to the hard disk and make it slow process. The idea is to use only essential bits of windows and keep the applications to minimum. However, proper car computers do not Shut Down ... once the engine is switched off, they go into Hibernation, and then come to life when you re-start the car.
Having a Shell for using the Windows in car computer is highly important. The industry standard is Centrafuse which is totally customiseable .... for those who are looking for freeware, they can use something 4-runner ... I hope I remember the name correctly.
Have a nice day
Khokhar Sb, your intrusion is welcomed. My point is; yes one can make things work; but things will not be as seamless as OEM SAT NAV and other leading HUs are. Let me rephrase; "Car Computer" is not for everyone "yet"
Very true Khurram Bhai ...
Many friends want to install car computer, but I tell them to wait for a while ... let me first experience it, and then based on my experience, others can decide what they want, or whether it was a good idea in the first place.
"yet" is the biggest question mark .. not many people around the world are going towards this ... while the potential is great regarding people who want "everything" in their cars, but .. better to wait. Right now, it is a very expensive option ... I think minimum of US$ 2000 is required for carputer (I am excluding the stuff available from China ... highly questionable specs quoted on their ads)
^^^ Agreed with Khurram that Carputer may not be for everyone yet BUT what I've been through, I'm not recommending even the Honda OEM Sat Nav. First its not giving bang for the buck. Secondly, HUs are evolving in a number of ways. A Pioneer HU would be an excellent choice in this scenario. Just short of Nav option rest Pioneer outperforms the Sat Nav in every aspect. Quality, features. Plus there are panels made for such units which can accomodate the HU and its motorized functions and still look integrated into the dash and not like stick out if thats a concern.
@Zunny: Aaj chup kyun ho bhai. Join In.
Windows 8 / iOS / Android are the current/future OS for touch devices. iOS and Android have edge that they have the shipping touch devices (iPAD, Galaxy TAB etc). "Shells" like Centrafuse will never come close to OS like these that are designed for touch devices. x86 is not for these devices / scenarios, no matter what we do; we cannt go beyond certain limits. The ideal system / device for car will be some "System on Chip" based thing running any of these OS and has minimal moving parts (like our "smartphones")
