    Thumbs up (FINALLY SOLVED) Civic 99 Drinking Petrol like Sharbat

    Salam PWs
    My civic is drinking petrol like hell. does only 300 kms per tank on highway & even less in city. The petrol needle can be felt going down while driving. there is no leakage & car moves great on petrol. no problem in driving.
    On CNG it does 200kms per 55cylinder. can u tell me how to increase petrol average. i have the advancer installed and it works. no problem on driving on CNG or PETROL. plz help

    i think we have found the culprit here. the injector circuit will b checked shortly.
    & the MAP sensor will be sorted out too. but XULFIQAR bhai the ECU does see the disconnection of MAP but only few seconds after the engine starts but not before that. the problem is that at hault with MAP disconnected, the Egine revs fine to the max, no coughing, bogging etc. i hav not checked while driving with MAP disconnected.

    I think i badly need the wiring diagram of the ECU to check the short circuits. can anyone please give me a wiring diagram of P2C (2 plugs at back). i have wiring diagrams of many ECUs but nothing matches this one.

    @Xulfiqar
    i have checked the injector wiring on ECU side with plg connected to ECU & it has continuous 11.69 volts there as well. whereas it should have pulses only when the engine is running. this can mean following
    1. The injector driver inside the ECU is defective
    2. There is a short somewhere in the wiring outside ECU
    There is another weird thing. I checked voltages at MAP sensor. i disconnected the plug & switched ON the ignition
    1. Ref voltage 5v was ok
    2. couldnt check if the ground cable was ok
    3. strangest thing was that MAP signal wire on connector was showing constant 3.68 volts even disconnected. (didnt check signal wire with engine running & connected)

    The 3.68v must be the cause of engine not stalling when i previously checked engine running with disconnected MAP as the ECU was getting 3.6v signal from MAP even when it was disconnected. This is also an indicator of short wiring of MAP.

    The outcome is that whole wiring needs to be checked.

    bro how does ur car gives 200km on cng..its so wierd..mine is just giving 90-95 in city without ac cylinder size is same 55kg...

    ya its weird 4 me too. i never checked w/o AC. i have actually done 210 kms with AC as well on highways off course. but mine 2 doesnt go beyond 105 kms with AC in city. i did the adjustments myself & its a mix of acceleration & economy. i hav driven at 130 km/hr on highway on CNG. just use a good advancer.

    bro i have neo tec emulator & advancer these r the best advancers for civic..wat adjustment u did..wats ur rpm @ idle state ???..mine is doing hardly 90 in city without ac

    i have an EXI manual 99. vti should do better than EXI. RPM @idle remains 700 both petrol & CNG.
    BTW i have a swapped D15B (japanese- non vtec) engine. can u tell me the code on your injectors.

    I went to karachi yesterday with sam_memon to a workshop of his friend.
    Following was checked
    1. Sensors (OK)
    2. Fuel filter ( was clogged & replaced)
    3. Injector wiring (ok)
    4. Fuel return line (ok)
    5. FPR swapped & checked (ok)
    6. Spark Plug (were like new as i went on CNG)
    7. Exhaust restriction (ok)
    8. Cylinder Compression (200 all 4 cylinders)
    9. Throttle Body etc (sparkling as i cleaned few days back)

    After checking & adjusting all above car was started & engine reved for almost 1 min, but there was no difference as we checked the plugs afterwards & they were badly sooted as engine was still running extremely rich.
    Another hot discussion ended up with the conclusion that there could be only 1 culprit "LARGE FUEL INJECTORS"
    we couldnt find get the 180cc stock injectors to check the issue but finally decided to install an "ADJUSTABLE FPR" on trial basis.
    So finally a n adjustable FPR was installed (pressure set 25) & i started my travel back to hyderabad as it was already 9 pm.
    I traveled abt 135 kms from Malir till hyderabad with A/C on & speed 100-150 kms /hr. the car consumed abt less than a quarter tank YEEEEEHAAAAAAAAA. so in broad calculations i will get atleast 600 kms per tank ( previously it did only 300)
    Now i will check the exact mileage by getting the tank filled in next few days.
    Finally the stock injectors will b installed if found.
    ANYBODY WITH 180cc stock INJECToRS please contact.

    Up to 600 km in a full tank? Can you verify that?

    I have a Civic VTi Oriel A/T with a swapped JDM D15B. My car does 280-300 km in a full tank (with AC). Who did you go to here in Karachi? I would very much like to have my car checked. Ppl report up to 11km/liter averages whereas the most i've gotten is around 8 kpl. However, the engine is very quite on idle (you can barely know its on if no lights/ac is on), and the engine can generate a heck load of power as it very fast in reaching a 100-120.

    Equipment:
    JDM D15B VTEC (converted to single vtec from dual)
    Stock A/T that came with the car
    Stock ECU (Havent gotten down to checking its code)
    No CNG (but previous owner had it installed).

    Problems:
    1. Heavy lag on 1 & 2 gear.
    2. Tranny is rather jerky on first 2 gears.
    3. High consumption.
    4. Car becomes very heavy with the AC on.
    5. Accelerator becomes very stiff at 100 kmph.
    6. Headlights may be a little dim.

    Among a possible tranny problem, a mechanic told me it could be a wiring issue. I dont trust regular mechs as they seem to mess things up with their "jugaaru" attitude.

    Help?!

    Since previous owner had cng installed, i would recommend you to check codes on the ecu first, then inspect the whole fuel delivery system and the ignition system, then lastly the sensors. Error codes can tell of any disconnected/ disabled sensors...

    Also check the ignition timing of being over advanced/ retarted, cng mechs love to play with that.

    Check the fuel filter, both the inline filter and the fuel sock in the tank...

    got to know of a similar problem here too, The remedy was the guy hunted in about 10 junkyards to find his part and had them cleaned. According to him some old accords also had those.

    there werent any error codes last time i checked. and i m pretty sure he retarded the timing. since he wasnt able to lower the RPM any other way. I also experience knocking when using a light foot (40 - 70 kph).

    will have it checked out.
