Post Tyres for Civic EXI 2005

    Dear Friends,

I have recently bought a Honda Civic EXI 2005, fitted with stock rims and tyres (R14/65-185). I intend to change these soon. Need your advice regarding following:-

    1. Appropriate tyres? (I am not a rough driver but have to travel a lot on GT road between Islamabad and Sialkot)

    2. Rim size. Shall i keep it 14" or increase to 15"? What will be the difference in handling/mileage etc?

    Awaiting your response...

congrates...first of all stick to original tyre specs, yr speed-o-meter is calibrated according to these specs and plus this would b more economical in terms of fuel consumption...i hv recently changed tryes of my Civic Exi and after some exploration chose Nitto tyres size 195/65/14, to me these r the best but u can explore more and ask for more recommendations...

Somitumo Nitto and Toyo are gud Japanies brand being used in their JDM cars, most of other brands like Dunlop Yokohama which r available in Pakistan r made in Malasyia Thailand or China, after visiting some shops and physically checking the tyres i found Nitto more suitable, i paid @ 7000x4=28000

I have recently put in korean made hankook optimo k415 in my civic'05 and i am enjoying the performance of these tyres.... Since i was in the market of buying the new tyres, i can sort of tell you my preferences even though i myself went for an economical hankook.

Also if you are in the islamabad/rawalpindi area, i highly recommend the discount tyres shop in blue area... i found their prices to be the best and even better than the kashmir road tyre market in rawalpindi.

prices are for the size 185/65r14

    yokohama db: 7000
    c drive: 6800
    a drive: 6600
    nitto: 6500
    aspec a300: 6300
    sp sport 300: 6000
    sp sport 490: 6000

i didn't ask for the lemans or eco in dunlop even though a lot of people buy them and also didn't ask for the high end bridgestones and michelins either.

If you are on fazl e haq road travelling towards the parliment, cross the china chowk underpass... Once you cross that, look for 4 or 5 tyre shops that are one after the other... If u keep an eye on the shops, u won't miss em.. DiscountTyres is one of them... I btw didn't get my tyres from DiscountTyres because i had first visited blue area and i was also making a plan to visit the kashmir road tyre market in rawalpindi to assess the market first... As it happened, i immediately needed the new tyres coz i had to go over the weekend to sahiwal on an emergency basis.. I knew my old tyres were not good enough for the motorway so decided quickly on thursday evening and got the tyres from the kashmir road... On that evening, there was no way for me to drive back to blue area eventhough after arriving at kashmir road i had realized that DiscountTyre shop's prices beat everyone out there.. Thats why i am recommending this tyre shop on this forum as fair dealing deserves our business.

I got Hankook K715 in 185/70r14... My last post says K415 but thats not what i got... Increased the height of my car by a fraction as that will enable me to pass through the speed breakers which sometimes used to hit the bottom of the car. After adjusting my other tyres (general) and balancing and fitting, i paid 20,000. This is how the price breaks down

    Price: 5,800 per tyre
    Balancing and nozzle change: 1,250
adjustment for the old tyres : 3,000
I didn't pay for the balancing in the end so paid 20,000

the tyres are made in korea and the date stamped on them is 3011.
