    Default Engine Swap 2000 civic

Hi guys Recently Got myself a 2000 civic.
Will be doing some pretty kick *** Visual mods on it soon.

The main question i wanted to ask is which engine would you guys prefer.

    My basic requirements
    1. Nice power
    2. EXCELLENT fuel economy

I am having a pretty tough time figuring out which engine to swap. a few people recommended me a k20. but from what i've heard a k20z fuel economy varies from 7-11.. that is still too high for me. Yeah i know now you would be wondering why should i get myself a mehran instead. But its a general question i would like to ask.

    Experts kindly share your views.

and between 150-200 hp is enough power for me

and remember one line in the car world - there is no engine that is powerful and economical. its either one or the other.
Well if there isnt thats what i am asking that what should i do.. and No bro i am not playing with fire anytime soon. I already have a 2jz setup for that. but dont have a body for that. so thats a whole different story. I just want something for my daily routing. like around 100kms a day. which should give me fuel economy and yet give me a lil bit of thrill when i rev it on the highway. That is wat i want. Simple as that

bro this is not like u simply go to shop and then ask the seller to give u d16z6 n he will give u in a bag go to junkyard and start search, do check the basics regarding ECU, head codes and wirings, if u finalize any engine ask him to open the rocket cover and then Gear box to judge clutch plate

I want to know of this obsession with the 2JZ engines all our pakistani bhai have, personally I never fancied it as its head design is pretty bad, the ports are quite restrictive. Worse are 1JZ design. To get screaming power from these engines to last more than 1 km in a full bore run really extensive work is required.

Im working with a guy here on a power build and he was also obsessed with the 2JZ till I showed him the internals of a mercedes benz M104. Guess whats being boosted??

anyway my opinion for your honda daily driver (aka trolley car) is to keep it original as its your daily car, you need ready available parts for it and repair procedures that are understood by local mechanics. It wont be much fun if you have to rummage through junkyards for the smallest of parts. So unless you are fully tech savvy - meaning that you can yourself take down an engine or trans or something else, repair it and put it back into commission without consulting then its better to stick to whats sensible. You will be quite unhappy with a weird problem (like a thrown rod) with your turbo D16 on a motorway.

stage1 and stage2 is just another needforspeed way of tuning your car
mostly here stage 1 means (headers, downpipe, exhaust, intake, superdooper high performance iraaadium plugs and extrreme high performance 40mm plug wires) if you already done all this gimmicky stage 1 modifications and you just add another one say for example if you port polish your intakemanifold(which doesnt do any good but oh well) you'll be in the stage2 category

some of the so called modifications for the sake of performance that do not add power to car are as follows
    1)iridium plugs
    2)thicker *coloured* plug wires
3)porting/polishing intake manifold without doing headwork
3porting inlet/exhaust ports without proper porting and resizing of the complete enterance from the ports till the valve seats
4)installing exhaust without header and a catback or a free flow pipe
*note: gaining power from upgrading to a bigger exhaust system is very tricky it all depends on the velocity+the pressure of the exhaust gases so the size of headers piping and exhaust all come into play - one does not benefit from just a header or a downpipe or an exhaust*

why dont you ask any of your frnds or someone you know who has a d15/d16 vtec in his civic with some Mods (non turbo) to give you a ride - i believe that you'd be pretty much satisfied by the performance!

Stage-1 / 2, daily driven, economy, parts availability... is not a matching equation.

As suggested above by experts, just stick to stock setup..
In my opinion, find & get hands on clean d15b or as u are liking d16z6.
Both will give you same output, but I'll prefer d15b with S20 a000 transmission. It will be ok for your requirements.

Dude i have driven my frndz vti 2005. i believe its the same engine. its good real good. but i had a race with him vs my stock gli. and it was a matched race. not that he doesnt know how to drive he actually is a waay better racer then me.. Soo i wanted something that i cud atleast compete to a r18a. thats why i mentioned performance... anyways if thats not possible then what the heck.. lets focus on economy then :p

65k for both z6 and d15b here in peshawar ! if there are any atm
if you want d15b the these are the things to look at
vtec head with p08 head code and p08 ecu(stay away from p08-902/901they are auto also stay away from any ecu that says 50 or above after the first number/alphabet e.g 37820-p08-050/51/52/60/70/80 they are auto ecus and will give you auto gear check light go get any ecu that it has numbering below 50 for e.g 37820-p08-0
    10/20/30/j10/a10/40/uptill 49 they are manual)
after this check for vtec solenoid(this goes for both z6 or d15b)
here is the pic of the solenoid
    Engine Swap 2000 civic -390071

after that has been confirmed go and check the gearing make sure the gear says S20(this goes for both z6 or d15b)
here is the picture of the stamp
    http://hondaswap.com/gallery/data/500/car4-lores.jpg
check the engine condition get a mechanic with you ask the mechanic to turn the crankshaft with the help of a 19mm socket to see if there are any tweak or weird sound if the mechanic says OK! then the last thing you should do is check the inside of the tranny make sure it says b000
    http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...7/DSCF0897.jpg

for this you should open the gear casing!

as for the d16z6 you should check for the p08 head and p28 manual ecu

make sure the wiring injectors and other junk is complete like timing belt pully throttle body all the wiring/grips/oilpump/coolant valve/distributor/header and specially the o2 sensor(for both the z6 or d15b)
    happy shoping!
