Civic 96-00 fuel gauges have no manufacturing fault at all.As many of you know reversing the mileage of vehicles is very very common here in Pakistan. The majority of mechanics & electricians here are not at all professionals. The entire cluster system is very very sensitive. They don't handle the cluster with care.So many clusters go bad and loose their original factory settings and then they never show the accurate readings.Secondly there is a trend here to replace stock bulbs of a cluster with LED bulbs just to make the interior look good. But then you loose all accurate readings and that can be very dangerous and costly. What's the point of showing off when one can't even get the proper readings out of the his/her car.

It may be possible that the float in your tank is a little jammed.By the help pf float one sees quantity of fuel. For once empty your tank and use all the fuel and just leave a little bit of it so you can reach the pump. Then full up your tank.Get 4000Rs worth of petrol filled and give it a try.I to own a 6th gen which is a 2000 Vti Oriel A/T totally petrol driven
