Exclamation Honda Civic 2005 Exi PT - Petrol Consumption Issue

    Hi;

I have recently bought a Honda Civic Exi Prosmatec model 2005. Only 44000 kms done in original condition and sealed engine. The car has been running on petrol and never been on CNG.

The car was giving an average of 6-7 kms/litre.

The following has just been replaced with no improvement:
    1. Engine Oil (Shell)
    2. Oil Filter (Guard)
    3. Spark Plugs (NGK)
    4. Throttle body/Carbeurator cleaned with Nasa carbeurator cleaner
    5. Air Filter was clean, thus not changed.

In spite of all these changes, the noted mileage was 6.9 kms/liter (checked on 10 liter filling).

Appreciate all your help and support.

    Thanks much and best regards.

    Abdul Aziz

I'm checking fuel mileage on Full Tank to Full Tank refill and best found so far is 8-8.25 km/ltr.

I had nissan cd20 diesel engine, it was giving 400km in full tank

after timing belt broke, the mechanic fixed the broken vavles.

My mileage suddenly improved to 550km in full tank.

@Xuliqar can you tell me how it happened?

change the plugs to iridium ones, change the oil and fuel filter and use best engine oil and its stock tyre size is 185/55/R14, you are also using big tyres and get it tunned from honda 3s, the local mechanics just ruin these types of car. They only can open more petrol or set more rpm nothing more then this they can do.

mine vti 2005 was also giving very low mileage, then i used shell helix ultra, denso ik20 iridium plugs which costed about 4100rs and oil filter and fue filter change set the tappets and took it to honda islamabad they just tuned the car and as soon they tuned the car i refilled the tank 50ltrs and the average was 10-10.5 without a/c and with ac it was 8.5-9 kmp/l and i was amazed, the honda guys told me that the local mechanics cannot handle these Vtec or Ivtech engines these are quite complicated so if your car does problem take it to the company, maximum you have to spend 6-7k on your car and that's it

Also check these points as well. Maintain tire pressure up to 32 psi in all tires. Check the front wheel alignment. Remove all extra weight from car trunk. Use low viscosity engine oil like 10/30W or 5/30W.

There are some more factors of high fuel consumption like; 1) Incorrect wheel alignment. 2) Heavier tires & alloy wheel. 3) Dirty air filter. 4) Thicker engine oil; change to lighter oil 10w/30 or 5w/30. 5) Worn out rings & pistons; check compression of each cylinder. 6) Incorrect intake/exhaust tappets. 7) Dirty or Choked air filter. 8) Incorrect or thicker transmission oil. 9) Incorrect MAP or Oxygen sensor. 10) Dirty fuel injectors; use STP injector cleaner.

6.9 is on the lower side. I was getting around 7.5- 8 until i got my injectors cleaned... got around 7 in the next tank. It has improved after that. Right now i am getting around 8.8kmpl. in city with AC.
