    Exclamation Civic 2008 performance problem

    Salam PW's

I have Honda civic 2008 mileage 32,000 manual transmission no cng installed at all . Filter, oil, plugs e.t.c changed before 2 months or before 5000 mileage until now it has mashAllah given me no problem but now its performance has been reduced a lot i can feel like some buddy has garbed my car from its throat yesterday on motorway from islamabad till burhan on full acceleration my car hardly touched 110Km/h on slops its reached 120-160 on full acceleration. I remember on motorway it was hard for me to maintain 120 speed it always crossed its speed and keep on skipping to 123-128 and so on ,was like flying on motorway.

I am not an expert so i have no clue whats the problem and can some one provide me with the guide or what ever it is to know what to change after how many mileage or time.

    Thanks in addvance

If there is an issue in the pick of the car as well, then check the air filter and the exhaust chambers as soon as possible. If possible, dont drive it till then, it can cause the choking of the engine which will require the engined to be opened to fix.

    BASIC CHECKLIST

    1. Air Filter: Clean thoroughly and replace if required
    2. Throttle Body Service: Get it done meticulously
    3. Check Plugs: Clean or replace them if necessary
    4. Catalytic Converter: Check for anomaly (Just in case)
    5. Accelerator Cable: Check the adjustment and position of accelerator cable
    6. Diagnostics: Carry out a complete tuning / diagnostics from 3S Honda

There are other steps that have bearing on retarded acceleration but I sincerely hope with the above issue resolved, you shouldn't have problems anymore. Also, do not try to force the vehicle to limits if its not responding, that may impact other things.

As for the air filter, apparently, it seems to be nice and clean but looks can be deceiving and the extremely small pores not clearly visible could be clogged. However, the present condition does not necessarily warrant the problem you are facing. Even then, don't rule out the possibility. Also, check the fuel filter.

Thanks a lot i have hardly driven 3000km from last change of filter's e.t.c but i did had first 3 thing on my mind to do asap and sure will check last 3 things too.

i did noticed a bit of naked battery wire attached to battery and a stuff on battery that you can see up right corner of first picture but again i don't think that has anything to do with this issue

The air filter definitely needs a generous cleaning, the service stations can do that well.
I faced a similar problem and thought of it as of due to the sub-standard fuel but it turned out to be a clogged exhaust chamber (small dholki). You'll need to go to a mechanic for that.

Logically and technically everything is mostly inter related and designed but then there are some "silly / explainable" problems to which one doesn't have a ready answer. As for the 3000Kms, please don't EVER consider that 5000KMs mark is a MUST. Engine oil can go bad even after 1500Kms. Fuel filter can get bad and clogged even after 5 Kms. It all depends upon certain factors.
One thing though, this time when you visit the 3S Honda dealership for DIAGNOSTICS, ask them to do everything in detail. The afterwards reveal your problem to them to correctly diagnose. This way they won't be able to bluff and you'll be much satisfied for paying the $$$. Do note what all checks they carry out in the DIAGNOSTICS and tuning for future reference. Remember to post back and apprise of your feedback.

It's either a chocked Cat converter, a disconnected vacuum pipe or a fouled sensor.

Well go to a honda 3s workshop like honda fort. Ask them to perform a fuel pressure test. If the pressure is alright than check whether injectors are all fine. If they are all fine check the coils, if they are also fine than ask to them to match the values of your cars MAF, IACV, TPS etc with those in the company manual I hope that will resolve the issue.

Few days back same problem happened with my city 2005 on petrol. I would not move at all on petrol on CNG it was fine. First I had to change all the injectors worked for few days but the clogged injectors had taken most of fuel pump so it also went bad. Now with both things changed every thing is fine.

Do take extreme care of your fuel pump as it costs a lot to change.

^^^ damn, I think fuel quality is dropping below the required standards but prices sky rocketing. This injector problem is becoming common, the way I see it.

Thats why he needs to get the vehicle inspected thoroughly from 3S otherwise step by step trouble shooting may prove costly.
