    Default My FX consumes more than a civic.....Need Help

    hey, guys i need a really good suggestion on how to improve my fuel consumption in my dad's old Fx (mine now)... i have started noticing that it's 25 litre tank finishes after every 164 kms that is less than 8 km/litre, i don't know how to improve it's consumption even tough i got a new genuine carborator for it, but it still gives the same no matter what... and i can't even install cng in my car due to the small rear and bumpy ride although the engine is absolutely perfect... please HELPPPP!!!

    new engine? why not just a new..or a newer car...

    compare the short term benefits with long term.

    sure new engine will be gud for short term, but even the new one wud be second hand right...so u dont know its faults. so in the long term it cud make life a pain..

    now look at new car, short term high cost ofcourse, but it wil save u petrol, all the maintanence costs and u could have long term enjoyment.!

    Old engines that have taken years of abuse, shouldn't necessarily have a bad fuel consumption or engine output. I saw on 5thGear that in the 1986 F1 car that won, and kept winning for 2 more years, the BMW team selected second-hand engines (from one of their saloon cars!) that had done atleast 100000 miles, left them out in the open for a couple of months to face the elements, and allegedy peed on them daily. The theory is that by .1mil miles any material strain or other problems will have become known, and an engine that lives after weathering that awful treatment will also live the heat of the race. They weren't worried about the fuel consumption though!

    hey... what to say guys?? i asked for a small favour of letting me know if i can do anything which can improve my mileage.... and u guys, gave me a whole new engine and a new car and a BMW testdrive and what not... thank you guys..... can't put it in words... lolzzz
    Dudes, i just want to know if i could just improve my mileage in any way..
    and @ asad it's a genuine 81000 not 80000 kms... the 1000 i have driven and to testdriver the speedometer and the odometer is also working correctly and told u guys i just couldn't afford a new car... i already have to finance myself for university.
    and i gave a makeover inside the body nothings been done from the outside except my dad had gotten it repainted once and that's it. while, the engine hasn't even gone through any kind of oevrhauling it's still genuine.

    @ammar

    It seemed from your posts that you have spent 25-30K for engine, included the overhaul, but it is not the case....
    I think your car's engine has lost it's compression to an extent that a lot of un-burnt fuel is going into the exhaust....The tail pipe must be blowing black smoke that indicates you need to OVERHUAL the engine....
