    Default MODIFICATION OF 88 CIVIC

    well guys i need some wise thinking from all of u look 1st of all get ma point what i wanna do and than tell me da wise way .....
    well i have a 88 civic in which i wana put a b20b dohc non-vtec in which i will use two major modifications 1st of all i will use uppaer head of 16b dohc and than it dont has da orginal gear box it has auto gear box which v cant use in drag so i will put 96/97 vti gear box or 95 civic gear box 75% that car will run on cng and when i have some race i will pull out da cylinder of cng and have drag fun what u guys think plz advise me as this project will cost me around 120k and rember am doing dis to beat 4age and d15/d16 vtis and gli for sure so tell me ur ideas waiting ..........

    Actually, there is no B20 in my knowledge that wud go straight into your 88 civic. And sourcing out the heads and stuff is a big headache. So, what you should do is, get a B16A, and turbo charge it.

    Thats gonna get you around 280hp which will KILL all other Vti's out there. U can also get a D15 and turbocharge that which will yield similar results. Cheerz!

    nice idea ... CR-VTEC is said to be the ultimate swap for civic's ( basically B20's came in CRV's thus the name CR from that and swapping the head with vtec based engine thus giving the nick name CR-VTEC )

    but where would you find the head for b16b ?? and this route is gonna cost you a LOT !!!

    for about 6 months i am looking here and there to find a b16b in nice condition and till now not been able to find it so best of luck with it

    if i had to go for a swap here would be my choices

    1. B16B
    2. H22 A1 / A4
    3. B18C1


    bro kindly don't install CNG in the car .... if you want to make a project car for love of GOD don't ruin it ....

    the b20b is a heavy motor...i have spent some time in the race / drag circuit and in my opinion, all that extra weight will counter the performance of a civic as light as the 88 model.

    it can be done for sure but i wont rock it....if im building one for the track / drag...i will put as first choice the type r B18C and then turbo charge it. The best way to do it is to build it also at the same time while you are at it.

    If a b18 is hard to get...b16 is a good choice as someone said up there....slap the turb and put some NOS and you are good if you wanna drag.

    I am sure that you are aware you have to put alot of new parts in your 88 when u do this swap....mounts, engine harness, axles, tranny, dizzy and some other stuff.

    I havent heard of a B16 head on a B20..the former is a VTEC head...isnt it?

    Its alot of work but if done right...you will have a great car.

    hello guyz ....some very nice ideas .....
    but i think some of ma frends didnt got ma point well here it is i wanna keep a car like runnning all da day and no use of petrol and when it comes to drag u can smoke any gud car i mean when it comes to race put off da cylinder of cng and smoke a gud vti,gli,4age am nt including any trubo charged cars here am talking abt simple street drags i hope u got ma point i talked to some other frends and they adivised me to put a simple b16 or b15 and do some chapping in it he said that i can do what i wants what do u guys say

    i think you are asking for too much here....this has to be an absolutely custom job and atleast i havent seen any setup like that....putting the cng and taking it out is not easy.

    plus...feeding dry gas to a modified and upgraded engine doesnt sound good at all.

    my final thought is that you get a b16 if u can (damn they are cheap in Pakistan) and build it from scratch...port it...polish it...upgrade ur injectors....get new gaskets for good compression....get upgraded pistons if you can....and put it all back together....if all goes well....you should be able to crank the biatch upto 150 to 160 hp.

    remember...most ppl talk about turbo or supercharge setups...cuz its rather easy and quick...but expensive and too much psi can damage ur internals....alternatively...if u build an engine...overhaul it good and enjoy it for years to come.
