Default Civic 02 front suspension height issue!

I have recently bought civic 02 exi. The front suspension looks like been raised somehow.
I want to check whether the spring/coil or whole shock absorber is for the same model or not? Can the spacer if installed be seen from above or below?

I want to bring it back to normal height, so if someone mention the genuine height of front and back suspension, it would be much appreciated. Please measure from center of wheel to the fender edge in vertical direction, so that tire size is omitted from the measurement.

^ i changed my shocks with new genuine ones an year ago and the car looks as if it is raised from the front. maybe its because of the weight of the CNG cylinder.

I have seen a yellow paint spot on front spring. Havn't checked it throughly. But measurement figures will show whether the rear is low or the front is higher...

    Anyone with the measurements???

I measured the height roughly, and it came out like this:

    Front right = 413mm, Front left = 403mm
    Rear right = 401mm, Rear left = 400mm

These figures may have some error, but my conclusion is that the right front shock absorber is replaced with some kabli one... and its height is more than the left counterpart...

Question is how to check the model of suspension?

Switch to 15 inch rims best solution as we used to have both exi with OEM 13 inch rims and vti prosmatec with 15 inch alloy where as vti had no issue of road clearance and exi still have that problem

Actually its already on 15" with 195/65 R15 Eurostar tires. Tires are almost new but i want to switch to yokohama for better grip.
Yesterday i asked a mechanic about the shocks. He said these have become old and hard and you need to replace them. And the height is increased due to it. Has anyone come across such a situation?

mostly the shocks themself dont go bad. its only the springs which r shot. i think ur left spring is bogged. just change the springs & yes when u remove the springs do check the shocks for working condition.
bad shocks do not change the height of car, its only the springs which support the car. shocks r just to smoothen out out the spring action.

its usually the other way round - the dampers (aka shock asborbers) go bad as they wear out their working internals over time, The springs can sag but they last about the lifetime of two shock replacements unless you break a spring.

i partially agree with Xulfiqar. but in our road conditions it has different effects. even if shocks r worn the car stands at equal height if springs r ok. but most of the cases i hav seen, the springs change the equilibrium.

What i have usually heard from local mechanics is that the shocks are hard and needs replacement. Is it the spring that gets hard or the damper? The rear dampers need frequent replacement; reason may be road condition (speed breakers) and load at the rear. But the front usually leaks out or become hard.

My observation regarding the suspension height of 2002 civic and the later 2005 civic (eagle eyed) is that the later one is/looks/seems to be lower, specially the front end. My question is that are their shocks interchangeable?

dont forget that I speak after having lived and repaired cars in Pakistan. - still I would say that dampers wear out first

btw - before condemning the shock absorbers - it is vital to check all the bushings first, take a flat rod - like the ones tyre repair guys use, and try to move the bushings by levering them, if they move its bad and will cause hard stiff ride as the suspension does not move like it should.

    @ Xulfiqar
One rubber bushing is almost broken and needs replacement, but i think it has nothing to do with the height of the suspension. The drive of my car is soft, its only the height. And i felt it more when a few times while my front wheels passed the small speed breaker and the shock absorber was extended to an extent that it hit its bump stopper or whatever. I have been driving khyber on the same speed breaker and it never happed then. Secondly i have seen other cars with correct height, so i believe i should change only the springs.
    Price of springs please?
