Question Extreme Vibration in Civic 2005 Eagle Eyes VTI Oriel

    Salam Friends,
I have been looking to get some information regarding Civic 2005. Apparently my car is not having any issue while driving at slow speeds like if I am reversing my car or driving at 40-60 Km/h but when I increase my speed to around 80 km/h my car starts shaking. Right at this moment I even feel a jolt while holding the steering. I have taken my car to 110Km/h at max and what I have noticed is at times there is no jolt at all and suddenly it starts jolting the steering wheel and left front side of the car like hell.

I have got the alignment and balancing of wheels done. I am under the impression that may be this is because of wheels because they seem worn out and needs replacement. The front right side wheel and two back wheels are Yokohama 195/65/R15 where as the left one (from where I sense the vibration is generating) is 185/65/R15 of some company ( Do not remember the name on top of my head).

What exactly are your thoughts on this issue. Is it possibly because of difference in sizes of the tires ? Also you think trashing them away and installing brand new tires would resolve this issue of annoying jolts at higher speeds ?

Also I am looking to get tires replaced. What tires should I go for ? I am interested in good quality ones for long drives as I mostly travel on Motorway and would like to get the best tires for great handling, braking and peace of mind at higher speeds ? Also please tell me the suitable dimension values with the best brand.

    Thanks

drive with different tire size is same as u r walking with heel in foot and flat shoe in other.
get all the tires replaced and afterwards wheels immediately.
go for yokohama advan db or AVS db in size 195/60R15.

you are using odd sizes, worn out and that to in the front?
    start with tyre change
if that doesnt work, you can check axles/foundations for other possibilities

Jolt?. how many km did you drive, tire jolt is also possible when wheel lug nuts are loose.

if you keep on driving without tightning the nuts, bolts will break or nuts may open full and tire will come off.

Nope there is nothing wrong with Nuts or Bolts. Something has to do with Tires or Suspension for sure.

    Thanks though !

for best results/diagnostics, change all tyres. otherwise just get the odd size tyre to the back instead of front. also check ur inner axles & steering joints. a jolt is a dangerous thing, i wouldnt dare drive it like that.

I was thinking to have a drive to Peshawar and get tyres replaced from there. I have heard they are very cheap there as compared to markets in any other part of Pakistan. You think that will not be a wise move and I should have it replaced right from here ?

Dude I had to get the tires changed anyways as they are worn out. Lets see if that resolves the issue or not . If its still not resolved I guess the best bit would be to see a Goday Wala and have him look into it.

Hmmmm, looks like we are having the same issue. For how long you are having this issue ? Could be a possibility in this make ?

Any other 2005-06 Eagle Eyes Civic owner here who can shed some light on this ?

Front Suspension can also be checked by Alignment Guy as well. Right ? He never pointed anything. Said everything is fine. Also can you confirm if the price of tyres is less in Peshawar than compared to markets in Isl/Rwp ?

    Thanks

make a pointer out of a pen taped to a small "patra" (small seat) - raise the car on jacks and check the wheel and tyre for being bent. While it is up hold the front wheels at 3 and 9 o clock position and rock them, if they move the tie rods are shot.

but obviously chaudry has got first hand experience in this - he can guide you better than me.

@Xulfiqar: What exactly you mean by this : make a pointer out of a pen taped to a small "patra" (small seat)

Apologies but I did not quite get you there. Can you please elaborate ?

what the tool would do is measure wheel runout whilst mounted to the hub. Take a pencil and rest it on the patra and put some tape to make it stay, now jack the wheel up and rotate the wheel to measure if any point of the wheel contacts the pencil if it does then you have a bent situation
