    Default Honda Civic VTI Oriel Prosmatic Eagle Shape, gear top speed security removal ..

    Assalam o alaikum n my civic VTI oriel prosmatic eagle shape has an issue that when I m driving it on D it just halts on 160km/h speed and 4.2 RPM on top speed, and if I shift it to D3 then it can achieve 180km/h but once I put it to D again as on 180KM/H D3 RPM goes to 7.5 then again it comes back to 160KM/h and 4.2 RPM and then remains constant there no matter how much you push the pedal, my mechanic guy told me that my civic has an builtin security in its gear to protect the engine and for safety and he told me that he has the software and he can remove this security however he can not change it as I asked him that can you change it to 7RPM and a top speed of 200KM/h or 220KM/H and he said that nop he does not have the software to modify it but he can break it and then your civic in its top gear can achieve 7 or 8 RPM (just as it can currently do in low gears) and a speed of 240 and engine will keep going on depending upon the press on your pedal and it can burst out too in this way ..

    So guys I really wanna break this annoying kind of a security feature in my prosmatic but before I proceed with it, can you guys tell me that is it safe to remove it? the way my mechanic told me? and he also told me that honda guys wont do it for me as they are not authorized to do it ..

    Waiting for your response on it and more details from experts that what kind of security feature is that? and is it safe to remove it as my mechanic told me?

    Pakistani civics do not have speed limiters - unless your car has a japanese junkyard ECU in it.

    damn D3 and on 180km/h ! was the engine roaring or screaming! and about the security lock i haven't heard it experts will tell

    YuP my engine is in very good condition and the RPM was at 7.3 or .5 at that time but I only did it to check it out but I think my civic has Japanese junkyard ECU but its very strange since I can see honda atlas plate on my engine and also its a local civic 2006 eagle shape prosmatic VTI Oriel, how can there be an Japanese ECU in it?

    Hi,
    I have decided to go with it and break up this stupid kind of limit on my engine .. so please kindly guide me that should I trust on my mechanic and let him do it? or what is the procedure to break such kind of limits? do they have to replace the chip on the ECU or simply via software it can be done?

    Need experts help on it ..

    And I think my car has Japanese engine and ECU that is why there is a limit of 4.2 RPM in top gear and the speed of 160KM/H ..

    Allah k bande, if there was any such limit, how in the world will your car go beyond or till 180km in D3.
    there are no security/speed limits in your car. simplest thing is to get your car tuned. if that doesnt solve the problem, then you need to get your injectors checked, fuel pump checked and so on. check your ail filter, plugs etc etc.

    just remember, your civic has no issues as u think it has.


    i had a japanese civic (ferio) a year ago. the car wouldnt cross 195km no matter what u did. even though a lot of pedal was remaining. i got each and everything checked. even went on mway for a test drive with the scanner installed to check all values when driving, everything turned out to be perfect. the mechanic then suggested to get some modifications done to which i declined.

    wait for some other expert opinions before finally deciding what to do.

    as haroon said - if you had such a limiter then no matter what you did your car would face a block at 160 - you did get to 180 with downshifting.

    Does your engine accelerate to redline in lower gears at full throttle?

    Yeah it does accelerate to redline in lower gears at full throttle

    But the mechanic says there is some kind of a security and limiter in the gearbox and in its top gear to protect the engine the top gear wont go beyond 160KM/H and 4.3 RPM unless we unlock it ..

    Check if your brake fully disengages. The 7th gen civic has a common issue of the e-brake wire. Sometimes it doesn't engage properly and sometimes it doesn't disengage properly.

    I suspect the brake is engaged slightly.

    Self edit : nevermind - just read that the RPM is stagnant on 4.3.

    limiters don't work like that.
    what wud b more dangerous; D4 with rpm on 4.2 or D3 with rpm on 7? does it make sense to you.
    if it still does, then please go ahead and get the limiter removed from your mechanic. good luck

    I dunt know but I have got my car completely checked from honda 3s shop too and they told me that its fine they even checked its all sensors and values and told me its just 100% fine and they dont know why its stucking at 4.3 RPM and not going beyond 160KM/H on top gear .. so I have no option left unless go on with what this mechanic guy says at least I can give it a try since I cant get it that why is it happening like it, engine is smooth and fine untill the last gear reaches 4.3 RPM it just gets locked up there the car even does not try to push for more and once I put it in D3 the engine roars and goes to 180KM/H smoothly with RPM on 7.3 but then once I put it back to D it just gets back to 4.3 and 160KM/H and gets locked up there car runs smooth and without any issues ..

    Hi,
    I think its the rev limiter on it, however my mechanic told me that he has to replace a chip in my ECU from some other dump and rotten ECU and then there will be no limiter on it .. its a prosmatic so plz guys advise me should I go on with this replace? or it can damage my car? or its transmission?

    Not an expert but i think you should try it one more time on a decline road if the car is gaining more speed on D4, as in crossing 160 barrier the way you describe than their is no problem with ur ecu its just wind pressure and tuning issues that on high gear you car cant do high revolutions due to wind.

    hope you 're doing this all on petrol mate ?

    Hi,
    Yeah I am doing it all on petrol and Yup once there is a decline my car goes to 180KM/H even on D, so you sure there is no rev limiter on it? and how I can avoid the wind pressure and make my car to do more RPM's? should I get it to honda again for a tune up?

    And if there is a rev limiter on it then how I can remove it?
