    Default CIVIC - slow acceleration!

    I've auto VTI HONDA 2005. Civic has an excellent pick at the start but as the gear shifts automatically, the pick is just destroyed? What to do with this hell??

    The issue you are facing is a lack of torque and HP in the midrange. That's where the engine falls once it shifts and has a tough time pulling up from there. Blame the state of tune of the car, and the auto's gear ratios.

    There are two things you can do:

    1. Wait till you are old enough to drive. Surely there will be a better civic in the market by then and you can drive that.

    OR

    2. Install a diesel engine in the boot, powering the rear wheels. You can use that for the initial torque that you need and help you get to the point where the VTECH actually makes any power

    Cheers
    If you haven't seen the future, you're not going fast enough!

    @Malikzzzz

    One thing that might help is that whenever the transmission is shifted to the upper gear, floor the acclerator paddle to the full at once, this will result in a downshift and thus more acceleration......

    Malikzzz, is your pros on CNG or petrol when it behaves this way?
    Be polite on the road. Always give way to others, particularly ambulances and pedestrians.

    ok...most of the replies to this thread are absolutely garbage and you guys must stop making fun of the question.

    unless you are a race driver, there is absolutely no reason to believe that there is a world of difference b/w the start of an AT and a MT car. there is a difference but not enough to make you feel that your car has some serious problem.

    dont put anything in your car as a modification. plugs, intake and most other mods dont do sh*t in terms of pickup alone.

    dont push the car hard when u start....do it gradually....let the engine warm for about a minute when drive in the morning.

    based on the info. u provided, it is difficult to tell what might be the problem. its a new car so there should not be any big issues.

    atleast i provided with him some direction instead of posting stupid comments which doesnt make sense.

    slow acceleration can be cuz of a number of reasons and his information was not adequate enough.
