Alloy rims should have balancers inside the rim and should not be visible.

    A) it looks seriously ugly
    B) this weight is designed to grip at the collar of ordinary steel rim and one fine day it will simply come off since put on an alloy giving you bubbling tyres all of a sudden.
The weights meant to balance alloys are flat strip types which stick on closer to the inner ring or outer spokes but not visible so they are in any case within the rim.

Size: 14.8 KBin this image the smaller weight towards inner ring is for inside balance and the longer strip close to spoke is the location for outside balancing. Depending upon required weight the strip may be longer or shorter

On our wheel balancing machine, you get 2 figures- one for the outer side and one for the inner side. You balance both.
For Alloy wheels, we use weights with sticky tape on them and place them inside the rim, trying to keep it as discreet as possible.

For steel rims, we use normal weights and hammer them on.
Turbo lag is like foreplay. You know it's coming. And it's gonna be good.

3M has just come out with a tape, you roll it till the required weight, cut and paste it. The real nice weights are the oldschool mercedes weights, they are 2 piece, one piece is the ear that hangs on the rim and then the weight that hangs on the ear.

deflate the tire and demount it, put some filter sand in it and close it, the sand will distribute evenly and balance the wheel as it rolls.

You mean it will dynamically balance out the wheel...? What if it make it more imbalance?

My wild guess: its for the white narrower strip light on the trunk. Have seen some cars with light in that housing as well, though it looks seriously ugly IMO while the bulb is on Name: ImageUploadedByPW Forums1442256402.029960.jpg

unless your sand has glue in it it wont.

this is used in heavy equipment all the time, and even sometimes in driveshafts.

It is used for connecting Tracking World's rear view camera (or any other for that matter) in its piece of **** navigation system for Civic. 3 contacts for Power, Ground and analog video signal.
