Default Problem with my Honda Civic 97

    Assalam o Alaikum,

I have got a Honda civic vti 97, when i bought this car it wasnt going up more then 120 km/hr, a mechanic told me that its assembly is weak so i changed the assembly n bought a new one d15 b with 2 vtec switches connected. when i changed the assembly and checked the speed it was still 120. it wasnt going up more then that either on petrol. i took my car to many mechanics n every1 has a different story to tell. at last an electrician told me that u got problem with ur ECU. the one installed in ur car is made for Auto transmission cars while ur car is manual. now he was saying something about Japanese and Pakistani ECU. he was saying that Pakistani ECU is better then Japanese ones. Now i am confused that what really i should do?
when i drive the car its RPM doesnt goes above 3.abt the rpm they say ur speed meter is a changed one thats y it shows 3. Can any1 help me in this regard that what should i do?

    damn
does the engine check light work?
which ecu is attached?jdm one or pk one?
u need to visit the best electrician who deals with ecu's and wirings
your rpm is limited, hence the top speed is also limited
Life is short and very unpredictable just like a Quarter mile .....

Bro auto ECU's can work very well with manual civic 97. it will only give check engine light and code for auto trans...so its nothing to do with speed.

sorry to say but people have been guiding u wrong
Firstly ur mechanic asked u to swap the assembly (i.e the assembly u got is imported NOT pkdm) and secondly he's asking u to change ur ECU to pkdm variant - doesn't make sense at all
The biggest mistake that people are doing these days is that they get their assembly changed only , bro that is a piece of metal and can be judged by its appearance , the main thing u need to get straight is the sensor and the wiring part
U should've bought a complete engine along with ecu and wiring to avoid hassle , not a big difference in price as assemblies only cost a lot these days , shop keepers themselves like to sell complete setup as the ecu attached with the engine is MEANT for that engine and the wiring attached to the engine is meant for that particular ECU
But now the situation is different , ur car was a Vti with 1 solenoid on top previously ? and now u got an assembly of jdm dual vtec ?
The thing is that Jdm dual vtecs were mostly taken out from ferio's that came with auto/cvt trannies and shop keepers these days take the auto tranny out and put in a local manual tranny with that engine keeping the same auto ecu and wiring and say that the setup is of a manual car - FRAUD
one has to look at the sensors positioning / ecu / wiring /obd1-2/a-b to make sure either it was removed from a manual variant or an auto
The typical dual vtec that comes with manual tranny is having a long shaped ecu having a code of p2j003 and obd2 (3wire) and the local vti's had p2j-j71 i guess (manual)
Now u have to tell us ur ecu code so we know whats with it and check ur sensor at the back of throttle either its 2 wire or 3 wire (maybe the ex-owner changed the wiring or ecu previously)
If u have an rpm lock at 4000 that might be due to ur ecu cuz auto variants are made in such manner , if NOT then secondly u need to check for check light , any codes ?
Vtec should be receiving its due pulse (but it wont work if u are experiencing 4000 rev lock)
Last but not the least check ur injectors (injector filters) they require cleaning after a specific time , their filter can be cleaned easily but to clean them from inside u need to add a good quality injector cleaner
As we dont know exactly what the problem is so we cant give u a solution , take it to a good electrician , show him ur ecu and discuss the problem , inshallah u'll come out of it soon

    Plug ecu of respective engine.
While adding power to your ride, upgrade the brakes first.
