Default CIVIC REBORN - FUEL FILTER REPLACEMENT REQUIRED AT 50.000km or not?

my civic has run 54000km and am curious that at what mileage the FUEL FILTER is to be replaced? read it in some forum here that it needs to be replaced at 50,000km.. any experience folks? and if it is to be replaced , what will it cost (at 3S dealerships) ?

and another tangling thing ,, a regular engine oil needs to be replaced at 4-5000kms , but ive come across a thread here where people say a SYNTHETIC ENGINE OIL can do 10,000km and some even said 12-13,000kms.. is this true??

i use honda oils (whatever the brand is) , the regular oil costs around Rs1800 and a synthetic for Rs2200.. with a price difference of just Rs400 , how can u get double mileage! and if we switch from regular to synthetic , does the oil filter needs to be replaced aswell??

    thanks..

As per Honda Civic's manual, you replace all filters and lubricants of your car on completion of 40k running.

People sometimes mix the term Fuel Filter and Oil Filter.
Oil is the Engine Oil that should be changed every 5000kms. Best is to change oil filter as well.
Fuel filter is changed every 40,000kms running. This filter comes in a plastic assembly. Your previous oil filter, which is fitted inside fuel tank under rear seats, is taken out, fuel pump is removed from the assembly and fitted in new assembly.

As for synthetic oil, I recommend using only organic oils. Engines survive better on natural products! Better change oil early than to put unknown stresses on engine.

Best way to know about maintenance routine of your Reborn is to read and understand its Manual.

I tend to agree with your logic. Frequency of routine/periodic maintenance of cars depends a lot on the conditions in which you drive your car and depending upon these conditions you can change or fine tune the requirement of parts replacement. 3S workshops or dealers which are interested in increasing their sales always try to maximize their profits by reducing recommended maintenance intervals by focusing on the most "severe driving conditons" applicabele. In my personal opinion you don't need to change fuel or petrol filter ( the one which is located in fuel tank) until about 80,000kms or beyond if you are filling your car's fuel tank from reputable petrol pumps in your city. Yes if you are using "irani petrol" from a road side khokha then may be even 40,000kms is too much. Only one fill from such a vendor will clog your car's fuel filter. If you are using good quality petrol then what advantage you are practically getting from changing fuel filter after 40,000kms other than maximizing profits of 3S dealership? Similarly changing a good quality synthetic engine oil just after 5000kms is also an over-kill. If your driving conditions are average then there is no need to change oil at 5000kms. Nothing will happen to your car until may be 200,000kms; you will probably buy a new car by then.

Fuel filter does not need replacement it works for the whole life of car unless you are using impure Irani petrol.

If you are using a branded oil filter like FRAM ultra, K&N or Mobil 1 the oil filter works for 2 oil changes if you are using a local one u have to change the filter with every oil change.

Change the synthetic at 8,000 KM max or check the viscosity at your fingertips or get it checked from the oil change guy.

Synthetic oils surely can do 12,000 or even 15,000 KM but not in dusty and idle driving conditions like Pakistan.

The thing is i am not am expert to determine whether the fuel filter needs replacement or not , for that , i need to show it to a 3s , who follow a set protocol by kms , my car has done 55k km , and supposedly f.f. is to be replaced at 40k , so they definitely will recommend to change it..

Brother that fuel filter replacement is not present in American European or JDM civics.

I myself used the fuel filter for 190,000 KM in my 2001 Prosmatec it was a Bosch made in Germany which will cost you 8K easily.

The only reason it failed was that my stupid driver kept the fuel tank on reserve for 3 months and kept driving on CNG.

Replace the fuel filter.....6000 is too much for it....have you cheked it from Honda 3S or open market....check the price from open market too...
For synthetic oils....yes some are made to last for 8000-10000kmsl like zic Ow,XQ, shell grey one..i think it is HX-9 or HX 11 etc. .....but for that you need perfect conditions and dust free environment.....but in pakistan don't go for such oils...coz they wont last coz of dust....use synthetic ones that last 5000km...like Zic A or A+, Shell Blue one...etc...they are cheaper that above mentioned and does the perfect job...
