    Guys, thanx for all the replies. But the info provided above could have been found from internet or simply looking at pakwheels brochures. I requested for comparisons as the two cars are being compared now a days.

    Give your personal experiences, engine technology and everything else that you know about these two cars.

    Hello!
    Comparision b/w two...hmmm

    1st we will find how much power Honda's 1.6L SOHC is putting....
    so thats
    Honda Civic D16 series
    Horsepower=128bhp@6600RPM
    Torque=146Nm@5000RPM
    In-line SOHC 16V
    as thats sure from honda engines that they produce torque alwayz on high Rpms that why they won't get much fuel effecient on city drive or as compared to other rival engines......

    as Mitsubishi Lancer's 1.6L 4G18 with INVECS-III CVT Tranny..
    Horsepower=105bhp@6000RPM
    Torque=142N.m@2750RPM
    As this engine with that tranny put around same torque on just 2750RPMS as D16 got that around 5000RPM.......manual 5 speed tranny puts that around142N.m of torque on 4500Rpms.....
    but horses are less as compared to D16...4G18 is also SOHC 16V.......

    as comparing so Mitsubishi 4G18 lacks horses as compared to D16 series...but torque output was much good of lancer on CVT..........simply that engine creates max torque on low rpms making it much fuel effecient than D16 ones...........
    Thanxxx

    SOHC or DOHC doesn't matter, it's the end performance which takes the cake. Sermonizing with a lame 'DOHC rules' or 'SOHC rules' without judging the end performance is like pissing against niagara falls.

    Honda is known to make the most advanced SOHC engines today despite DOHC being available, there's a reason for their success and it's progressive engineering. Their SOHC workhorses deliver performance at par with 'modern' DOHC engines.

    Now unless you have a technical fallback, I'd suggest you avoid posting something like 'DOHC rules'.

    @Cylestyne
    well i will say that dohc rules, and i have a valid reason for this.... in sohc whatever you do you can not eliminate the valve lifting due to the rockers... well in dohc you eliminate this problem... this problem becomes bigger and bigger with the increase in engine speed.

    @ser_gtr
    well due to the lack of torque at low rpm's one gets more fuel eficiency, which is the case in honda vtec.......... this is only valid if you keep the car at low rpm.....
    its all about power to weight ratio...
