    Default Shocking Dilemma - Honda Civic 2005 & City 2002

    After getting rid with all the silly problems with my City i finally passed it on to my wife and got myself a nice 05 Civic. My wife a few weeks ago complained to me about some wierd noises from the front end. I took the city out for a spin and could not hear any noises so i took it to work the next day. It remained quite for most of the time but i heard a "Ghooon Ghoon" noise after driving about 15km. After a while a clicking noise also emerged (which is particularly annoying as it would only stop if the road is absolutely 10/10). On my way back, same thing happened , it remained quite for 10-15 km and then the same noise re emerged. Weird thing, after rains similar noise with exact symptoms have emerged in my Civic .

    I need know if these noises are bad shocks/struts or springs? If shocks, what should i do about them? Replace ? Repair? If repair, Should i go to Saeed Manzil ( @Xulfiqar ) ? . If this is shocks related than why does it emerge after driving for atleast 10-15 km and not right away?

    I have little experience with shocks related problems.

    Dont know buddy. Thinking i might new shocks. I think its the courtesy of those silly cat eyes and bricks laid on the roads to slow down traffic.

    Its most probably due to brake pads touching the wheel. Or some mud stuck in there and dried up. A station service and brake service will do the job.

    7th Gen Civic shocks' repairs don't last long. Its usually better to get them swapped with kabli ones in better shape.

    Sorry to burst the bubble, but consider yourself lucky if these last for more than a couple of months.

    Brother in addition to above check your front wheel bearings.

    Original NTN would cost 2,500 / piece.

    Kabli stuff is good and will last for around 2 years in Karachi however they cannot cannot compare to the genuine KYB stuff I installed in my PROSMATEC which lasted for 140,000 KM.

    However they are 10,000 for rear shocks and 18,000 for front very expensive considering for an old car.
    All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better.

    @Xulfiqar @capsat
    UpdateCivic)

    After repairing all four shocks and replacing tie rods & bushes the drive improved alot... almost like driving a brand new car however my happiness did not last too much since the car developed a clicking clunking noise on turning the steering while at dead slow speeds. Audible while parking. it can also be heard when the car is stationary and pops up at a specific point.

    We replaced the struts mounts and inner tie rods (the longer ones that connect to the rack). These did not resolve the noise, checked the bearings and they are fine. The guys at Afzal think its coming from the rack, i however still feel its coming from the farthest end since i can distinguish between when it pops from the left and right side. I am assuming a noisy rack should be heard from near the firewall and felt on the steering. I have almost zero feeling on the steering.

    Need experts advice.
