Default Civic D15b3; engine making strange grinding sound

    Hi,

The D15B3 in my Civic EG8 used to make a low grinding sound, like some bearing was going bad. Yesterday, the sound turned into a loud grinding sound coming somewhere from the passenger side of the engine, right around the alternator. I got it checked by a couple of mechanics who had to say the complete opposite of each other. One said it's the big end bearing, one said it's the cam bearing and timing belt.

On my way back, hardly a km of drive, the sound got very loud, like a bearing is broken and coolant started leaking. Now what I think is that it is probably the water pump bearing or seal or something.

Am I right? What could it be?

I bought the car like that, the previous owner used Warco ATF in it. I still have half a bottle of it in my trunk, which I've never used. The steering is lighter now with less whine. Lets see if it holds up.

The Hydraulic Light weight Oil Is Used As P.s Oil...The Warco ATF Is A CHEAP Fake Oil Costing Around 100-150rs/L..which Later Gets Thick.......

Using A Good Quality OIL will Make It Run Much Better Lighter

And when I bought the car, I couldn't even find Warco ATF anywhere as most shopkeepers said it's not made anymore and has been replaced by a "copy" of Warco, I didn't even bother finding out the brand name. Most shops don't even have genuine PS fluid.

BTW, what are the symptoms of a failing PS pump?

Look In Engine Bay.......The 1st Very Obvious Symptom Is The SOUND.....Whinning SOUND While Moving Steering Wheel......Leak Pipes And Possibly A LEAKING Steering Rack....Check For It ....!

Bad Oil Will Also Effect The Oil Seals And Damage It.....!!

There is still a bit of whine there, but has gotten considerably less. No leaks thank God.
