Default Civic 05, power steering making noise

    AoA,

For quite some time now, the steering of my car is making some high pitched sound. Here are some of the observations:

-Its get louder and even higher pitched when i am turning
-Its random but 70% of times it is there
-I opened bonnet and felt the pipe on this part (circled in picture attached) and the pipe was vibrating quite bad. The part and the pipe itself was not vibrating but it felt like the fluid inside was really turbulent.
-I have checked the oil levels and the levels are fine. By the look of my un professional eyes, the oil doesn't look dirty either
-I once bent a bit near steering and i could actually hear some squeaky khsk tsk like sounds even when it was stationary.

I will be getting it checked this monday but i want to know what can i expect and what actually is wrong so that i don't get ripped off by locals.

There is another problem relating to engine on petrol which i will post the details on other section but first i need help here.
Kindly note this is not my car, i just searched for a pic on google to identify the part

Almost 80k... The same sound used to come ever since the car was new BUT ONLY when steering was turned to its extreme and forced to stay there

Thats the power steering pump. there may b air bubbles in ur system. open the PS oil bottle cap & observe while turning the steering, if bubbles r there then bleed ur system.

Take it to a honda dealership. My exi 05's steering started vibrating and some starnge noises were being heard from the bonnet and noone could diaganose the problem while my car was just 28000 km driven at that time. Took it to honda city sales kalma chowk and they just changed the power steering oil for rs 600 that's it till now 48k on the od no issue ever again. You should get it inspected from a honda dealership

Its bottle is right next to the pump right? oh man, i just realized i checked the brake and clutch(or gear?) oil reservoirs thinking one of them is power steering reservoir lol
I will check it again tomorrow.

Btw why the cap of its bottle catches so much dust? i think the oil might be dirty..

^ PS oil of honda is abt 800 i think. Just check for air & bleed the system. 2ndly the clamps which tighten the rubber hose to PS pump also become loose sometimes, so check that rubber pipe is properly mounted on both sides & clamps r tight.
There bleeding, u can remove the cap, start the engine & turn the steering fully towards one side first then to the other side. do this procedure slowly for abt three times. Otherwise u can drive ur car in complete circles in both directions.
If that doesnt solve ur problem then simply flush ur PS oil & put in new one, it will definitely solve the prob. Do not use local PS oil, honda's mind it.

Spot on! the pipe at bottom of the reservoir is damped with oil ( around an inch in total starting from bottle) i guess the clamp is loose...
Secondly there is greasy stuff even around the bottle, its cap and its top surface (where its written use only honda PS oil bla bla) If there is some leak why would it stick to bottle as well and thus attracting dirt to stick to it.
Also the oil level is low, i can see the oil when i open the bottle but cant see it to minimum level.

Thanks for the help, ill go to honda dealership this monday. I should have checked it earlier but my bad i saw the brake and clutch oil reservoirs instead :/

Tonight when i came back home, the sound was really loud so i opened the cap of bottle and saw that it was full of small bubbles...
I turned steering wheel both sides couple of times but the bubbles did not go away (also the oil level is low)

Brother that is the manufacturing falt in 2001-06 Prosmatec shape civic that is why they are flop.

Your power steering is probably failing.

If there is a leak just change the pipe.

So can u compare its popularity to 96-2000 model or reborn 2006-2012 ?

That is why the used car price of Prosmtec shape is almost 50% less compare to reborn.

The power steering will fail, the coils will eventually fail at 80,000 km also and suspension will never adjust always go to left.

Eventually the leak of power steering oil will also lead to failure of alternator because the stupid design is that its directly below.

Not to mention that once the Prosmatec transmission requires overhaul you wont find a good mechanic in Karachi to open it and just for maintenance like torque converter and transmission filter the whole shaft needs to be opened so its a 40K expense after every 120,000 km.

These cars were only good for initial 5 years once they cross the 100,000 KM mark they will make you bankrupt in months.

A simple water pump will cost 5,500/- and a single door power motor is for 2,000 if u will go to OEM part.
All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better.

Thanks for you concerns, ill see once i actually get these problems. As for as the thread, i got it fixed, basically the oil was running really low. I bought new bottle, got the old one replaced and filled the bottle. Its running great now...
    cost involved:
    500 labor
and forgot the price of oil but it wasn't expensive either

p.s don't want to go into arguments since fanboys are everywhere but to me its a good car. and to be honest, i see equal amount of reborns and older models opened in the workshops. So every car needs to be maintained. If you are really worried about high cost of the parts then how about buying a mehran?
