Some mechanics do open it up and change the bearing, but it rarely works.

Got the pump of my 95 Civic replaced recently. The mechanic showed me a pump of your car for 3000 Rs. and 500 Rs. labour. Turned out there were some differences between a 95 and a 96 pump so I got a genuine kabli pump for 95.

remove the pump clean it thoroughly, drain the old oil and add fresh oil in it...some times this helps too....
(if the oil you are running is too old)
