10w30 mineral. Synthetic is a no for a 10 year old car. Unless the mileage is relly low and the previous owner was using synthetic.

Its simple. Let me break it down to you. Synthetic oil is not real mineral oil. It is built using various chemicals so it has longer life span than a conventional mineral oil and it has cleaning agents which keeps the engine clean by absorbing oil deposits in an engine,

If the car is driven on mineral oil from the start of its life, it tends to build up little bit of oil deposits/sludge in the engine. So a layer will be built up in the engine which might cover the worn areas of the engine and seals. So switching to synthetic after such age of the engine, it will eat away those deposits. If the deposits are heavy then it might result in leakage of seals, increased engine noise or also in some cases failure of the engine. In some cases switching to synthetic caused little or no issue but there have been comparatively more complaints by users after switching to synthetic on old cars.

So, to be on the safer side, It is best to use the oil previously used in the car. But still if you want to switch, you should first try semi-synthetic oil and after 2-3 intervals if engine remains fine, you can pour in synthetic and see how your engine responds.

But my recommendation will be mineral oil or semi-synthetic. Hope you get the point now.

I called Honda 3S I-10 and this is what the told me .

Type type of oil. both are made by Total .
1 is 1900 (recommended by the service person)
    2 is 2400

    Oil Filter : 900
Some Oil Washer for around 50
    Service charges : 300

the were also recommending Tunning for another 600.. ( does it help )

My fuel average is pretty low around 5-6/KM ( all city driving/ Prosmetic /with mostly 2 Adult and two kids ).

Sorry just a little more detail .. The car is around 120K on Meter ...
it is a Honda civic 2003 Prosmatic .. Oriel UG Edition ..
I dont know the generation or Whether this is called Eagle eye or Cat eye .. I always get confused with that .. I am was trying to find the manual but didnt get one with the car.

i just replaced the timing belt and some-other timing round metal thing.
    Got the shocks foundation replaced.

The previous owner has kept the car clean and nice condition but i dont think maintenance scheduled was followed Except brake/oil no major thing was done..

next i am thinking of getting the airfilter repalced .. pretty dirty and clogged ..

Use 10W40 grade for your car with OEM oil filter ,, I will recommend Mobil 1 or Liquimoly only ,,, keep the drainage interval at 5-6k kms ... good luck

Brother Castrol GTX 10W40 is best for you change after every 5,000km and change oil filter at 2nd oil change.

Try havoline formula 10w30 or KIXX 15w40 semi-synthetic oil.

Get the oil changed from someplace else than Honda 3s. They are clearly fooling you. There is no guarantee that the oil filter they replace is genuine. it might be local with just honda branded on it. And 300 service charges for oil change ? Heard that for the first time.

Get your oil changed and drive max 5000km on it. After oil change do get your car tuned and replace air filter. you will definitely get better mileage.
