Default Expenses on Oil & Filter change from HONDA!

Aoa. I just wanted to know what are the expenses of oil & filter change if you get it done from honda, especially 9th generation civic? Are they same throughout pakistan or they vary from city to city?

Likewise. I go to honda company and all my cars are company maintained.. Bt i make sure the parts i get are from an authentic company shop! Nt a road side shop.. Thats y i asked goodman abt the shop on walton road since they are authentic Honda company dealers providing genuine products.. In othr words, taking ur car to a honda 3s dealers doesnt confirm your given the genuine product! The stamp on ur book would make it luk genuine but it might b the other way arnd.
No offnse bro, ive experienced crappy prodcuts frm dealer, honda point to be specific.. Probably where u go, there might b no issue at all.. The while point is to make people aware of the fact that not all deslers sell genuine products.. If ur happy with where u go.. Nothing like it! Cheers!

I see.. Probably thats one reason fr a slightly higher price. Your location. Bt im nt aware whether prices vary from region to region or they r constant all over pak. Try getting in touch with the company directly if possible.

If you are in doubt of the oil filter not being replaced - buy a small bottle of enamel paint and scribble something on the filter and take a picture - if the scribble is there after the service - roll up your sleeves.

What I concluded from this discussion, the rates are as follow:

    Oil: 2300-3000
    Oil Filter: 850
    Air Filter: 1850
    Drain washer: 60
    Total: 5060-5760Rs

for drain washer - get a copper one and reuse it over and over again - just heat it up and quench in cold water - it will be soft again. I have done that since forever.

Unluckily we don't have any drop in facility.

For engine oil, the choice is yours, if you want to keep the longer intervals, then use 5/40. Available options are LM Hi-tech Synthoil, ZIC XQ, Kixx 5/40, PTT 5/40. SCI will be 8~10K and replace both filters after 4~5K.

For medium intervals, 5/30 is best choice. Again options are available from same companies as above and SCI will be 5~6K. For better performance, changing both filters earlier is advised.

I prefer using LiquiMoly Synthoil 5W40 in my new civic.

Honda Oil is packed in Pakistan by Total therefore not very trusted by me for a car worth more than Rs. 2.4M .

Other than that all prices are fair.

Brother its simple you get what you pay for.

You can never expect Rs. 2,300/- engine oil to compete with Mobil 1 5W50 selling for above Rs. 4,000/-

Even he original European Total 9000 was never meant to compete with Mobil 1 they have Total INEO lubricant at the top.

Again you cant compare Rs. 4,000 Mobil 1 with Amsoil Signature Series oil selling in excess of Rs. 6,000/-

The real question is does your engine and driving conditions require that.

As part of a bet with a friend I used Mobil 1 0W40 in 2002 CL-9 for 13 months and 16,000 km and when I went to oil wala 'chotta ustaad' for change he said 'sahab oil mein abhi buhat jaan hai kab change karaya tha' I told him last month and he believed me.

So I believe no one beats Mobil 1, Shell Helix Ultra and LiquiMoly respectively apart from some European designer / racing oils like Amsoil Signature, Castrol Edge, Penzoil ultra, Red Line Euro, Valvoline SynPower and Royal Purple which are either not available locally or are insanely high priced.
All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better.

May be the liquimoli u are referring also packed in gawalmandi....you are trusting an individual's shop instead of a world wide reputed company who can not afford any mistake on their part...

    ^^
May be u r right, but plz keep in mind that the most commonly sold product is more likely to be faked in our country (or may be in other countries also). Just see example of Pepsi; u would hardly find a genuine pepsi, becoz it is best seller in Pakistan. On the other hand, if u go for Teem, there are more chances of getting a genuine drink.
Similarly, Shell, havoline etc are more prone to be copied or packed in gawalmandi.

Anyways, this is just one aspect of the issue. anything can happen in our country.
    Desire is irrelevant!!!!!!

Sir, what do u recommend us? Stick to company provided oil or switch to any other option. Im sure many people hav asked the same qeustion in other threads. The major issue here is the availibilty of genuine oil. Fr a person like me, i doubt id ever b able to differentiate between whats genuine n whats not.. Ive seen ppl comment that after switching to flana oil, ive experienced good economy, smoith ride etc.. Whereas i dont see how ppl could expereicne such a chnage with just one oil change. Yes, a person with knowledge, experience and information like you could.. Bt i dont think anyone else could feel such a major differnce.. Probably the only diffrnce one could feel is the engine noise.. That too if only the changin interval has exceeded way beyond its time.. Coming back to the topic, any recommendations? considerng the conditions and temp over here? Nt to forget the availbilty of such a genuine product. Thank you!

Edit: just saw ur comment on the other thread, shell ultra. I think thats wat u recommend? Right?
