Default Expenses on Oil & Filter change from HONDA!

Aoa. I just wanted to know what are the expenses of oil & filter change if you get it done from honda, especially 9th generation civic? Are they same throughout pakistan or they vary from city to city?

Honda Genuine Oil Filter Price: Rs. 820
Drain Bolt Washer Price: Rs. 60

    Engine Oil Mileage: 5000 Km
    Oil Filer Mileage: 10000 Km
Mineral Oil and Synthetic Oil Mileage are same 5000 KM and Drain Bolt washer replace if required but Honda says replace every oil change.
Pardon me. But why SM & SL oils are being sale or even recommended to brand new models of Honda??
Many oil companies making money with same formula.
For example, they will make SL grade oil "Fully Synthetic" or will make SN grade oil as Mineral. (Kixx using the same formula for some of their products too but not for all).

Why not Honda producing/recommending SN GF-5 A3/B3, A5/B5-12 performance oils for 2010 or older cars?

Honda oil filter, we are selling at Rs. 460 only.
And never asked customer to pay for Drain Bolt Washer. We always provide it ABSOLUTELY FREE.

WHY THE CHANGE INTERVALS FOR MINERAL & SYNTHETIC OILS ARE SAME ???

May we know from which "reputed company" Honda is buying their filters & stamping? Would you mind sharing info here?

Initially I told em that I'll buy cause the sales guy was being a stubborn a$$ then later got it removed from receipt.

This happened around ~2 yrs back.
Less than 1% people know or have actual concept what the multigrade oils are.
Majority says the definition of multigrade oils as
    - The oils which can use for both Gassoline & Diesel engines.
    - The oils which has very long intervals.
    - The oils which are with synthetic formula.
    - The oils which are very expensive as compare to others.
    Etc. etc.

All these concepts are absolutely WRONG.

Because all the oils which are being represented with dual viscosities are multigrade.
    5W30
    5W40
    0W20
    0W30
    0W40
    5W20
    5W50
    10W30
    10W40
    15W50
    20W50
    15W40
    10W60
    10W30
    10W40
    20W50
    20W60

All of above indicated oils are "Multigrade".

Monograde oils are always represented with single viscosity indication. Like 50 or 60. These are called Monograde oils.

One thing which I dont understand is that people spend so much on oil but forget the importance of oil filter, on this thread i have read that people change oil filter on alternate oil change. You are putting new oil with used oil filter-why?.

Secondly, the OEM oil filter is designed for that specific engine by the designer.......read this (from wiki)

"Most pressurized lubrication systems incorporate an overpressure relief valve to allow oil to bypass the filter if its flow restriction is excessive, to protect the engine from oil starvation. Filter bypass may occur if the filter is clogged or the oil is thickened by cold weather. The overpressure relief valve is frequently incorporated into the oil filter. Filters mounted such that oil tends to drain from them usually incorporate an anti-drainback valve to hold oil in the filter after the engine (or other lubrication system) is shut down. This is done to avoid a delay in oil pressure buildup once the system is restarted; without an anti-drainback valve, pressurized oil would have to fill the filter before travelling onward to the engine's working parts. This situation can cause premature wear of moving parts due to initial lack of oil."

My cars are maintained by Toyota Garden & Honda Fort and I buy OEM filters from them.

Do you know that Corolla & Altis have different Oil & Air filters........

The private companies like Leepon, K&N, Guard, etc. also produce the filter of "Same Specifications & Dimensions" as of OEM. This is confirm.
However, in oil filter, the most important is not the "weight of the filter" or the writing/printing over it, but it’s the fabric inside it who filters the oil. And that fabric is really special and not all the producers can produce exactly same. But people import the cheap fabric from China and fixing inside the filter. IMO.

Just for information, there are more than 500 small factories who are producing oil filters just in Lahore. And 490 (out of 500) are not infact the factories. These are just tiny workshops with couple of workers working.
Even one of our friend has same set up too and guess what, they were supplying filters to Guard and other companies too but without stamps/printing. I think we should better not to dig out such details so deep otherwise we will find ourself lost in such sub-standard products being plentifully prepared in Pak.

Whereas selling other products like 5/40, 5/30, 0/30, 0/20, etc. gives more profits like 300~400 rupee per bottle.

But the people who are producing fake oils, they only produce 20/50 because of its largest consumption.
They offer different kinds of margins per bottle which are from 250 rupee to 800 rupee. OMG!!!
We got almost daily 1 guy at our shop with similar offers, but we just kick their base and let them run.
is that profit rate same for shell, exxon etc or just for kixx, PTT?

Frankly, the profits are squeezing day by day because of increasing competition and too many oil shops.
If its 100~150 rupee per bottle profit, then ~100 rupee profit from replacing both filters, then drained oil is also sold, etc.
So its not big profits. But yes there is hell of satisfaction in this work, ask why? Because selling "original oils" makes the difference. We know its long journey to go and for people to know and trust on our products, but it gives lot of satisfaction that we are not selling the fake products. Though selling original products giving very less margins. But yet mental satisfaction is far above from such things.

website mayshow latest grade. But Honda's 5/30 (so called fully synthetic) is "SM" grade for sure. Price is ~Rs. 2250/3.7L packed / sealed by total.
but i higly doubt because they mentioned "fully synthetic" on the bottle as a marketing tact. 5/30 is oil with synthetic formula and hence not fully synthetic for sure. If its fully synthetic then its price must be much higher as well.

Thank you brother for all the info uve shared. Also for the recommendations u posted earlier. Apprecaite your input!
True.. Honda charge a hell alot more than the market rate.. So, their oil being at ~Rs.2,300 feels a lil odd considering what uve just stated.. And this is the consumer price.. Wonder what would their cost be.. Probably arnd 1600-1700.. Lol..

Default Oil that i use for my 2009 civic

This a very good oil and at a good enough price. also knowing that it is genuine oil helps.

it is a 5w-30 SM grade fully synthetic oil.

There is a newer better oil that is SN grade.

i believe that there is no point in going to a regular shop and getting an oil about which i would have any doubts.
