Default Which LM oil should i use for Civic 'reborn'

    Dear brothers
I need your valuable opinion regarding this oil.
I want to try Liquimoly in my Honda civic 'reborn'. It requires 3.7l so 4l will do just fine.
I am currently using Honda oil 10w40. Odo is 22.5k km.
    Few questions.
1.Is it necessary to use engine flush also?
2.Which LM oil grade and name should I buy?
3.Please mention price if u know.
4.should I use k&n oil filter. Will it make any difference.
    Thanks in advance

    Kind regards.

    - No need engine flush. Just go to change oil when engine is hot. Probably after driving couple of KM. It will drain out more than 94% of oil from engine.
    - Try LM 5/30 for best fuel consumption and keep the change interval as 4K for first time but 5~6K for next time.
If want to go for longer intervals, then choose 5/40. Synthoil hi-tech part no. 2194. Price in Lahore is Rs. 4800/L. In Karachi its like 4400~4500/4L. Your car will take full 4L alongwith filter. SCI can be 8~10K but change both filters after 4~5K.
    - Any filters like K&N, Leepon, etc. will be OK. But for the safer side change them with every oil change or max. upto 5K.
    No Guts, No Glory.

Brother LM 5w40 Synthoil is best for you little expensive but worth every rupee.

Atlas owner's manual is crap original American and European manual specifies 5W20 for 0C to 40C temperature all round year.

lol. Bhai Sb manual is printed as per conditions prevalent in the country.

do you really think you know better about and engine and what it needs compared to the people who made it?

if u do know better then u should start your own car/tuning company.

as per my analysis the liqui moly oil is same as the honda oil (i.e total oil) both are 5w-30 and both are SM grade.
So there is no point in spending Rs.1500-2000 more for the same oil.

If u dont know a damn thing about about Group VI synthetics and Honda R18 engine than its best not to comment instead of misguide other persons.

Are u a Honda employee / dealer or something ?

No i am not an employee.

I have been getting my cars maintained from honda and i always got the work done that i wanted.

the oil that they provide is excellent for the cars as per my 11 years of experience. had a 2002 before now have a 2009 civic.

Do you know about group 6 synthetics? also can you let us know why only they should be used?

it will be helpful if u could educate us about them.

i am not at all misguiding. i am sharing my experience which has been great as far as engine health and right oil n fluids are concerned.

    do u have a workshop?

    OMG !!
Is it confirm that the manual is for Honda's Car & not for Motor Bike? Why? Because they have clearly mentioned to use SG & SJ grade oils. Is it for even brand new Honda cars?
SG & SJ grade oils are bikes.
Pardons, but I feel myself surprised after reading the manual. Wow.

I read it below the temperature scale that it should have SL or greater.

    it is for honda civic.

if you read carefully. i guess what it says is that the car can run properly with SG or SJ.

if u want to get good fuel economy use SL or higher.

If manual says that it can run well with SG or SJ grade, then I bet I will run "VERY WELL" on SN grade oil.
If SL gives good fuel economy, then SN will give "VERY GOOD FUEL Economy".
Choosing latest grade oils is better.

5w30 is 'THE' recommended grade for honda civic r18 engine in our climate..5w40 is for turbocharged engines or those engines who are run on higher engine rpms for most of the time..hence any 5w30 grade oil of gud specs can be used..5w20 is recommended for countries like USA where they do not encounter very high ambient temps...Now coming to the point of liqui moly oils..I too at one stage was inclined to use liqui moly oils but after thorough thinking and experience from other cars i opted not to invest more money on them because liqui moly oils although might be superior but they are mostly used for extended drain intervals meaning 8 to 10k or even further but sadly with the type of dusty environment and low grade fuels and oil filters that we have, its useless to use such an expensive oil in our environment!..according to my own opinion honda's oem genuine fully synthetic 5w30 api-sn oil is the best to use or any other branded original 5w30 oil having api-sn and ilsac gf-5 specifications like total quartz 9000 which im currently using in my 2008 civic 8th gen with oem oil filter..use it for max 5k kms and then change it to fresh oil..just my 0.02..hope that clears everything!
