    Default honda civic 2000 problem

    salam to all pw's
i m facing a starting problem with my honda civic 2000 exi. the problem surfaces only in morning. the car takes long selfs and once started it immediately shuts off. the next start is half self and car starts normal for the rest of the day. i took the car to a mechanic and he removed the vaccum line attached to fuel pressure regulator and put a bolt in the vacuum line means he plugged it with the help of a bolt. the problem solved for 4 days and now again same problem started. i have removed the bolt and attached the vacuum line again to the regulator but it is having the same problem. if regulator is bad, then why car started normal for 4 days and why it is now giving problem without regulator. i need worthy advise from experts here so that i can pin point the fault and go for necessary repair or replacement instead of relying on a mechanic who randomly changes all things or cut all wires etc etc honda civic 2000 problem -1412598

Bro last week i had the same problem and i m also thinking that my fuel pressure regulator is bad just as your mechanic do but i only repair my honda to Honda 3s service center and as you mention (if regulator is bad, then why car started normal for 4 days and why it is now giving problem without regulator.)because blocking vacuum only lead to brakes failure and other problems its not a solution
in my opinion your auto choke had a problem but truth only revile by scanner
    Thanks

You need to get it's fuel pressure regulator checked. The line he removed will make car ru n rich. The purpose is to maintain some 38-40 psi at idle and 43-48 psi at wide open throttle. If removing the vacuum line your car gets better then it'd problem of fuel delivery.

In fuel delivery following things can happen.
    Bad fuel pressure regulator
    Dying fuel pump
    Dirty or clogged injectors

In your case injectors could be ruled out. Check rest. Two. Make sure you test it with gauge not mechanic blocking the pipe or visually seeing the flow

too much tight tappets cause mixture to lean out-so hard starting.
just do as afnan said and adjust the tappets

If fuel pump is bad then car would always have hard time starting plus no power in higher RPM's. You should check for fuel pressure regulator because it is responsible for maintaining the pressures. Hard starting is caused because it takes time to bring pressure to required level. When you turn off your car the pressure gets released which should not happen. Fuel rail remains under certain pressure all the time.

    Do following tests.

1.Before starting car let ignition switch on before start. If car starts well then it's fuel pressure regulator.

2.Remove the pipe from fuel pressure regulator bottom one. Attach it to transparent pipe and put it in bottle. Just switch to ON state do t start car.
    Notice following.

2a.If fuel does not flow. Means not necessary pressure. Check fuel pump or fuel pipe line for leaks or blockage.

2b.If fuel flows turn off the switch. Flow should stop if it keeps on coming then it's leaky fuel pressure regulator.

3.Put back everything and put vacumm pipe on fuel pressure regulator with vacuum machine or with care create vacumm. If you smell petrol or vacumm can't be built this leads to leaky diaphragm fuel pressure regulator.
