Default Help Needed to Fix Transmission Problem in CF4 Civic (04-05)

    Dear All,

I hope you all will be doing good. I have recently changed my engine`s setup in 2005 Civic (Vti) like current block is D15B(JDM) which is working perfect and also the transmission which was taken off from D17 engine. Since everyone know that prosmatic is one of the smoother transmission in terms of shift-overs and kick down etc etc.. But after I have changed my setup I have started facing some annoying shifting jerks which usually comes in first two gears. Like first till the speed of 20 and next after 40kmh. Following checks have already been made:

    All engine mounts are intact
Oil quality and levels are perfectly fine
All wiring and cables etc are properly done
TPS (throttle postion sensor) is also well calibrated on stock values.
    ECU/TCU is PKDM of D16W9

I shall really appreciate all of your suggestion and recommendations to help me in fixing this issue.

Plus any more required info beyond my knowledge can also be provided. Many Thanks

remove and clean the shift solenoids, what ATF are you using? This transmission requires a highly friction modified ATF

use Honda DW1 or Mobil1 ATF, Z1 is obsolete. regular dexron ATF does not work as the static and dynamic coefficients of friction are different.

Honda programmed the ECU to control the time, aggression and duration of shifts - It was programmed with the behavior characteristics of their required ATF.

Even if it is faulty, you won't be able to diagnose unless you have the right / unique atf required by it

if problem doesn't go after required oil change. I see a ECU fault, you have d15 with d17 trans running on a d16 ecu

Yes originally car is PKDM and comes with D16W9 ... For some reason my transmission messed up then had to change it meanwhile timing belt broken and head assembly also gone so changed the entire head+block assembly among only available options of D15B and D17 keeping economy factor in mind. That is why now it has become a mix up :-/ but do you guys think that it can actually be a problem? Because pickup, economy and drive etc is absolutely fine... even seems better then before.

Some of my friends said plus I have also experienced that this D17 transmission seems to be 5 speed but apparently there are only 4 solenoids same as before.

Well this transmission is 4 speed with one Lock UP which may seem like 5th gear. I was also thinking that you installed block of D15 B and your exhaust and intake manifolds are of D16.........

so whats the update, have you put in the required ATF yet?

you may as well have a problem with the wiring but unless or until you tell clearly what is going on no one would be able to make a calculated guess, again without the required ATF you will be shooting things here and there ...
