Default Engine flushing with Liqui Moly engine flush additive.

I own a used Honda civic exi 2006 car. I want to do its engine flushing with a Liqui Moly flushing chemical available with a metal container 300 ml costing me Rs 600. Do you think this product will be beneficial or useful to clean my internal engine parts effectively or it is just a waste of money. Many people say to use small quantity of kerosene oil about 200 ml mixed with old oil and run the car at idle for about 5 to 10 minutes will remove almost all kind of contaminants from the engine. Please advice me which method is the best. Thanks. Khawaja Jodat. Chemical Engr. Wapda town, Lahore.

Modern Engine oils are highly fortified with additives, which effectively perform all the required functions. No need to try any thing extra. If you want to flush, do it with same oil.

Use synthetic engine oil and make sure your engine is always at optimum operating temperature(i.e- auto fan and t-stat valve installed), use genuine filters and your engine will remain squeaky clean. Also drain oil with the engine hot.

Please never confuse what the rest of the world calls "modern oil" with the garbage being sold at most pumps in Pakistan. Only some lubricants available in Pakistan have additives.

This product is recommended when deep black sludge has been formed in the engine but for engines in which good oil is used and changed on time always then this product is not required

(Please never confuse what the rest of the world calls "modern oil" with the garbage being sold at most pumps in Pakistan. Only some lubricants available in Pakistan have additives).

The above statement is based on shear ignorance on lube manufacturing being done by Major Oil Companies operating in Pakistan with hundred of fuel outlets and huge distributor net work all over the country. Fake products are also available in some market, but at very low %age. Thousands of cars are running on road are using oil manufactured in Pakistan without any complaint.

What do mean. Is this Liqui Moly engine flush bad for my engine. I have planned to use it because my engine oil gets black and dirty very soon i.e, after driving only 300 KM or may be less. I opened the tappet cover just to look into the condition of my engine parts and it is very clean, no carbon deposits and varnish build up seen but then why my car engine oil is getting black so soon. Please give me a good piece of advice. Khawaja Jodat Chemical Engr. Wapda Town Lahore.

Engine flushing with Liqui Moly engine flush additive -1421049

Oh well, your query is incomplete without some background information, mind sharing?
What kind of oil you've been using?
    What's the drain interval?
What kind of filters do you use?
What's the mileage on the motor?
Who suggested a flush, and why?

    Khawaja sb,

a friend of mine suggested me liqui molly products, these are real and do make a difference, I have used same engine flush in my 2002 cuore and my cousin's 2006 (2011 import) toyota ractis. what i can assure you is that it will make your car's engine more smooth and you will feel a better pick (by 10 to 15 %) and no harm to your engine what so ever. I would also suggest Fuel Injection Cleaner by same company that makes a very clear difference on car's performance. Do use them with a week's interval so that you can feel the difference both products make.

Though i have sold my coure now but i kept it for three years and no issue after using these products except positive
Ractis was also treated a year and half ago with LM products and is running smooth to date

you can also visit their website liqui-molly.de to have complete details

    @khodat

I don't say LM is bad, it is waste of money.
Oil is getting black, as it is contains detergent, dispersant additives. It is cleaning engine effectively and getting black, like soap gets black when dirty hands are cleaned. May be fuel injection system of your car need calibration, as more fuel is used in burning generating more soot possibly causing oil to become black after 300 km.

    gentleman (love burger)

what you are saying is that get fresh oil as much as your can gets in (means from 2.5 to 4 litres) and flush your car with that, have you considered the cost of that oil?

While liquimolly costs only 600 Rs it is put in the engine before draining your old oil start your engine (dont drive) for 5 to 10 mins and drain the old oil. yes all impurities are gone with that oil.

Its basically matter of choice all of us do what ever satisfies us.

When last year I purchased my Honda civic exi prosmatec 2006 I firstly used caltex Havoline 20w/50 then on next oil change I choose caltex Havoline formula 10w/30. I drive this car only for weekends drive with my family so the mileage is very low i.e, less than 300 Km per month. Drain interval is 5 months or may be more. I use Guard oil filter, my car total mileage is above 100000 or maybe more as the speedometer seems to be reversed. I think it has done around 150000 just my opinion. Nobody suggested me to flush the engine. I read on internet about engine flushing. As my engine oil is getting black very very early so I thought to use this product to remove any kind of sludge settling in my oil pan/sump. Kindly give me your expert and valuable suggestions. I did an engine flush on my Civic with Liqui moly when the engine had 189,000kms on it. You can check the thread below for the results.

I have used kerosene to clean out really nasty engines, I even used it on mercedes benz engines with no problems, Dont make a habit of it, I only did that on engines that were really dirty from the inside, it cleans the oil ways. Dont expect it to wipe off the brown varnish from the engine castings, for that you need to use a synthetic blend or synthetic oil.

For your engine - dont use it, almost no 4 cyl honda engine is hard on engine oil unless you use ghee or waste oil as lubricant. Use the proper rated oil for your engine and keep driving. Make sure your engine gets hot n toasty every now and then - and make sure that the engine is hot when you change the oil.
