Default Tyre choice for new Honda Civic

    Hi Guys,
I will be having my new Honda Civic here shortly and would want to change the stocked Euro Star tyres. I have been following some threads on PW regarding tyres for Honda Civic and it appears that the following two are the best option

    1. Yokohama Advan DB
    2. Continental CC5

I checked few shops here in Islamabad and they are recommending Yokohama BluEarth 1 (Japan) as according to them this is new/fresh and much better than ADVAN DB. Can I have your views on it?
Also the Continental CC5 and ADVAN I saw were all of 2013. Please advise if you know an authentic Yoko or Continental dealer in Islamabad where I can get "2014 make" tyres.
Last question is that some dealers are of the view that Continental CC5 tyres are not for our roads. According to them its side-wall is so thin/light that there are cases when it swells up after hitting a bump hard. Please comment how true is this?

I would appreciate your help -

    Mubashir

Yokohama Blu Earth 1 is a new tyre from Yokohama, it has orange oil for better wet grip and I have seen the ratings for this tyre on the internet and in Silence and Comfort it has got 9/10 and in other fields also it is excelling and I am using ADVAN DB and C-DRIVE in two of my Honda Citys and I would say both are superb tyres in terms of comfort and grip and I am 100% satisfied with them but I would say if you get a new product like the Blu-Earth 1 then I would say go for it eyes closed...It will surely impress you...BTW tell me the price of Blu-Earth 1 and the shop name from where you are getting them?

I have never used any Continental tyre but I would say it might be more expensive than Yokohama but Yokohama is also a great tyre and everyone admits this fact!!!

I would like to add here that C-Drive also is a wonderful tyre...You can also get it for your Civic...It has got sport performance with luxury comfort...The drive of the car becomes very enjoyable once you install C-Drive in your car!!!

Thanks for the reply bro. I checked Discount tyre shop and Unique tyres in Blue Area. He is asking around rs 8800 for BluEarth as well as Advan. However Continental CC5 is of rs 9000

I will check C-Drive as well - any shop that you recommend? I dont mind spending more but getting authentic/genuine product.

CC5 and DB are equally good tyres but yokohama lasts long. Only continental lovers will buy CC5 and Yokohama lovers DB so again both are very good tyres if you have flexible budget then try Yokohama S Drive or Yokohama YK 580 these are expensive tyres but top of the line mostly used on audi bmw or mercedes.

Yes - I did some research on Michelin XM2 but did not get good reviews so I dropped it. For me, it would be DB or CCC5. And yes CCC5 is more noisy compared to DB but DB is purely targeted towards noise reduction so cannot blame CCC5 here.

Hmm..I have always heard that the rate of wear and tear in Yoko Db is very high. How was your experience with Yoko DB or if you have any?

This is coming from a Civic owner who has used Advan DB previously and now using Continental CCC5.

Go for CCC5 eyes closed. I have them on my civic and I have driven my car 40,000kms in rough terrains of southern Punjab with these tires and drive on bumpy roads on daily basis and no tire swell issue ever came up and still they are going good.
Car even feels stable at 190km/h and they have much much more better grip than Advan DB which lacks wet grip. I purchased them from Khan tyre in G-6 Melody market on left side of PSO petrol Pump
I will highly recommend you to go for Continental.
