Default Civic 99-00 power antenna -Help

    Hi PW's

    Hope you are all fine.

I have civic 99-00 vti orial automatic. I have some queries about power antenna of my car:

When I on the switch not starting the car, power antenna goes up and when I off the switch power antenna goes down normally.

    1. I want to know that is this factory connection that during switch on antenna goes on and goes down when switch is off?

    2. What is the price of brand new OEM power antenna for civic 99-00?

Please experts including @racerali tell me current connection with switch is factory one or not?

    WOW! Thanks for the nightmares.

Did you actually drill a hole there to put that thing in place?

Yes it is possible 100%, but one have to drill the exact size of hole and on the right spot.
You can take dimensions of the antenna hole and its relative position on the left rear quarter panel from the same model vti.

thnx 4 ur reply bro .... i think it will be an interesting diy
in ur opinion , does it matter to drill at same spot ...... coz u can only point out if one vti and exi are parked alongside each other.
anyways , is the stock antenna available in market easily?
    regards

To me it looks hideous if the new antenna hole is not drilled in the right position. Vti stock antenna is available from local junkyards for around 2000 rupees. Try to look for one without the relay box (the relay box is used for half antenna function, though this box can be removed from the antenna) as you may not want to use it. Buy a simple three wire power radio antenna which should extend and retract fully and smoothly without any clicking sound at both ends.
I have done a similar DIY you can check my thread project EG.

    @NiGhTShAdE @shabbir.1 @hornblower @uiv @racerali

One thing that all of you must know is that connection of antenna through Car Stereo might be harmful in case, some times antenna is not getting full power or voltage from stereo to open and close and antenna extract maximum power from stereo and due to extraction of max power, your car stereo will be burnt. So keep in mind this factor.

So, better to use connection through ignition switch which is very simple and use antenna switch along with ignition switch. It is much better approach.

Brother what brand and make antenna have you got please show it here for our benefit. And can you compare that 20 rupees red color flimsy switch with an oem switch for which you have drilled the dashboard.
There are things which look good and work perfectly only when done in the right way and as per oem specifications, otherwise there are number of cheap ways of achieving the desired results.

To avoid such situation always use an interposing relay between the radio's remote power wire and the power radio antenna. Normally audio players have got 350mA(max) provision to operate any thing external which is enough to operate a smoothly operating antenna, but with the passage of time the antenna mast gets dirty or sometime even bends (kids have a tendency to pull the mast when extended) in that case the internal motor has to apply more force and as a result draws more current than normal.

In my car I have used antenna (half) switch and the antenna remote power is taken from the accessory power (ignition switch). If the acc power is turned off the antenna retracts fully no matter the switch is on or off. But the antenna extends when both the acc power is present and the switch is made.

dont rem the brand name..it had a blue box....it was long time ago....go to montgomery road....there are many antenas that you can find...from price of 700 to 1200 1300 ....they are all universal....every antena can fit from mehran to mercedes.... all antenas have same wiring and so do all cars...price variation is just due to different quality.....
Last i dont know what is the point in mentioning that switch time and again....i am 100% satisfied with it and it looks perfectly alright.....it is unded the dash...many people even appreciated the way itnwas put there....and that was what i did...and that pic was just a suggestion.....baki jis ko jaisay pasand hai waisay ker le....
