    Default Honda Civic on CNG

    Hello all,

I am planning on buying a 2001-2003 Honda Civic within the month but I had some queries about it's performance on CNG, I have heard that cars with an automatic transmission generally don't perform well on CNG, how does the Civic fare in those regards?

Also, the Civic has three trims: EXi, VTi and VTi Oriel, can you guys tell me the differences between them and whether one of them lacks in CNG performance?

    Thanks in advance!

Civic 01-03 auto performs gud on cng. Mileage is low as compared to manual on cng. I had gud experience with auto on cng than manual. People may contradict on this , am sharing my view. Exi is 1500 cc normal efi engine, vti is 1600 cc vtec engine with abs and 4 wheel disc brakes , oriel is sunroof and i guess all vti are oreil , i didnt see a vti without sunroof . may be it was offered back in 01-03 .

    autos consume more gas
and require more frequent adjustments in general
cng in with manual is a safe bet but there and many old auto civics on cng
Life is short and very unpredictable just like a Quarter mile .....

Auto are fine with cng, little low on milage but again you have to count the comfort factor.
This model had 3 variants i.e.
EXI 1500cc (no abs, no sunroof)
    VTI 1600cc (abs, no sunroof)
    VTI 1600cc (abs, sunroof)

My manual EXi runs 150 to 170 kms in one 55L cylinder. Max is 192km and min is 130km. People may disagree...

The only knob i has to adjust sometimes is the CNG sensitivity knob also called idle set knob on the cng kit.

I love the drive when i find the sweet set point of that knob. Can pull the car right from the idle rpm in any gear... And that is the point where i get good mileage with good drivability.
