Default Civic 9th Gen - Repair

It just had to happen one day. =/ So tonight, I've managed to get my car scratched pretty badly against a van's protruding pedestal.

I need to get the right back door repaired (or replaced?) at the bottom, alongside a couple of inches of body. Where can I get it repaired in Islamabad? Genuine place, please. Any help in this regards will be duly appreciated.

Asfand, so there's practically no way of making it look the way it was? Either way, there will be visible signs of this hit?

as far as my experience goes
    It ll be detectable
better to fix it in a way which doesn't look so bad and also won't bother you when you sell your car
well, someone here might tell you a better solution, but as far as my opinion goes, go with what sp_kingpin suggested
and lastly, stay away from body shop of honda dealerships...........sincere advice

Costs about 7000 plus labor chargesfor toyota corolla, honda should be slightly more i guess.
Repairs are always nasty, but u can always get it repaired and if its not up to scratch get it changed. I have had fender changed on my brand spanking new corolla , got hit by a boar.

I feel your pain. I am a Honda owner and have been to the I-10 place to get the front bumper re-sprayed because it had picked up many scruffs from careless parking. My car is black. They were not able to get the paint right. It was dull. the body shop manager is totally non technical so is the shop supervisor. They are totally dependant on the painter. If he says the paint job is good, all or them, like parrots, repeat, "The paint is good". The front bumper spray (no dents) cost 12,000. I took the car to another shop who did a great job on my Jaguar but for some reason did not do such a brilliant job on the Civic. That cost 10,000. I then took the car to another guy in G-7. His paint was the best of all but tends to go dull every 3 month or so. I get him to re-polish the bumper with his own concoction of Brasso and compound and polish. That looks great for a few months and then its back to him for a rubbing.

So from my experience, I have yet to come across a shop/place that can do a job at par with the original factory paint job. I really don't know what to say to you except just apply paint with a brush to cover the exposed metal to prevent rust and leave it as it is. Repairing this section will always be detectable. Plus to match the colour the whole door will have to be painted. That will lead others to believe the entire door was smashed.

@msabbasi, why not give compounding a shot yourself, using brasso can't be a good idea. I think you should buy the paint yourself next time and make sure he strips off all the old paint before spraying the new paint.

did he spray clearcoat on the bumper?

i would probably have an air compressor and spray gun at home,if i had the money. it can't get better than what you do yourself

I agree with you but the thing is that I have a deal with him. He guarantees the job. All subsequent buffing/compounding/brassoing and what not is his headache and free of cost, but, having said that the time is mine and so is the headache of going to him. If he rubs down the paint do bare plastic he re-sprays free of cost.

    Yes it has clear coat.

I agree with you about having my own compressor but I have no place to work in

Get it compounded, rubbed and scrubbed.
Apply a thin sticker on top, just the way Swift has them on the edge of the doors / rear fender.
    Easy peesy, lemon squeezy.
Turbo lag is like foreplay. You know it's coming. And it's gonna be good.

If I was you, I would've got the door replaced if you can find it in Genuine factory seals and it's cost worthy.
    Replaced ? Lol!
Nothing has happened to this door!
No seals would get damaged during repair!
Lower part would be painted rest lacquer would be sprayed to match the colour

@kursed how can u be even thinking to replace the door fender or even denting it
That damage is nothing, that dent can easily, i mean very easily go by dry denting, and majority of the scratches can go by rubbing but for a smooth and clean finish a small portion might need to be sprayed.
Just follow my advice, go to any reliable denter,(Not HONDA dealership) and tell him to hammer the dent of the fender and the door sheet, it would come out easily into showroom shape, then ask him to compound it, after compounding if u think you can live with the minor scratch then its ok, otherwise tell him to spray the minor part and Your Car is brand new, Wont cost more than 2k
i am literally laughing at the thought and advise of changing the door and fender

If you do the foolishness of changing the door and fender u would curse yourself as the car will never be in perfect shape and u would loose 100k easily when selling it, and no insurance company would change the door and fender for such a small damage

    Hi

I would've got a brand new door for my car if I couldn't live with a door that wasn't properly painted / repaired.
I assume you mostly get raped JDM's repaired, so well, you wouldn't care too much about perfection, right?
And by Genuine seals I meant to get a new door from Honda Atlas or Dealership that has Genuine seals on them, since some parts do not have them.

Turbo lag is like foreplay. You know it's coming. And it's gonna be good.

    let me complete your sentence
and then curse yourself when there would be so much difference in paint shade that you or anyone could detect the painted door from a mile away. Its silver dude. Been there done that

Even a genuine replacement in silver, from Honda won't have the same color as the color that car came with?

I will probably do just that, after Eid. Thanks a lot for the information, I honestly did not know that Honda outlets are so unreliable at repair of their own vehicles.

My only gripe from the situation is that there's no reliable painter, as per this thread. Can you recommend any?

honda does not offer replacement panels painted
I asked them for a replacement bumper for mine but they said they ll paint it here to which I denied
I even offered them money to get me an original painted panel from factory still they denied. You can try your luck though
But the replacement panel is never like the original one that came with the car. The steel gauge(thickness) on it is different. Atleast thats what I have been told, not confirm though.
