What will you do in other cities or when you have to travel outside Islamabad? Plus it is so cumbersome to hunt for fuel. One should keep a car whose fuel is available everywhere.

Price and features and colours are all parameters which usually don't affect a car that much, but this restriction to only use high octane fuel in the Turbo model is an endurance limitation. It means the owner cannot take his car to tourist attractions (Northern Areas, Coastal belt areas) unless he carries his fuel with him. Although most Turbo owners will probably have other cars to use but this fuel restriction is a big technical turn off (similar to an all electric car like Tesla which cannot run easily in Pakistan). NOt buying this car but just my 2 cents
      :-)

Can't disagree. The car may be able to run on regular for sometime. Modern ECUs are capable of that. However, whats the fun in that?

I've had a word with Honda Atlas as well about the 1.5 Variant with the fuel issue. Apparently I am not going to take their word for it as they're usually a bunch of liars. Their 1.8 was going to be a big flop therefore they suddenly come up with this thing that only high octane can be used for 1.5.

I will only listen to Honda Japan of what kind of fuel does their engine require as they made it. Contacting Honda Japan is going to be a pain. If anyone knows someone there then cool, let us know as well.

Oh and now dealers are asking for 50% of the price of the car when the damn car isn't even in the showrooms as yet, atlas hasn't posted anything about it on their website apart from the stupid popup/banner asking for 1.0 million only (non refundable)

Honda civic engines and power train presentation by Chief Engineer.. Please watch the presentation and read the 2016 Honda civic sedan press kit. It mentions regular unleaded 87 Octane. What the hell is Honda Pakistan trying to do.

I feel a very bright chance to get a very cheap used Turbo variant.
      because of all this.
used cars customers would be hesitant to buy Turbo because of Hi-Octane which makes it reachable for most of us

this is the brighter side of the story

its also possible that turbo civic gets a tank full of hi-octane only at the time of sale.

Saw the below article on the internet:

Your next car will probably have a turbo?it?s time to get comfortable with the technology

      How do turbochargers work?

Turbocharging is nothing new. In fact, its origins date back to the late 1800?s when Gottlieb Daimler proposed and patented the idea of using a pump to force air into an engine. The modern turbocharger works by uses spent exhaust gases to spin a turbine, thereby forcing more air into the engine.
With more air comes the more fuel, which in turn leads to more power. The result is a small engine that produces the power of a bigger one. Problem solved, right? Not so fast.
Turbochargers made their automotive premier in 1962 in an Oldsmobile, but it wasn?t until the ?70s and ?80s that people really began to notice what a turbo could do, with cars like the Porsche 911 Turbo, BMW 2002 Turbo and Ferrari F40.
However, even with their newfound popularity, these early turbos were far from perfect. They were prone to overheating and often suffered from immense turbo lag ? the delay experienced as the driver waits for the turbo?s turbine to spool up and kick in.
While these aren?t concerns with a modern turbocharged vehicle, many potential buyers may be turned off by the fact that some manufacturers recommend premium gasoline for turbo motors.
?If your car recommends high-octane fuel, do what it says. If not, then feel free to use whatever grade of fuel you like?for most drivers, we say the cheaper the better?

      Why premium gasoline?

A modern turbocharged car intends to deliver the power of a large engine with the fuel economy of a smaller one. Sounds great! But if manufacturers recommend high octane fuel for these turbo motors when we fill up, are we really saving any money? Why can?t we just fill up with regular instead of premium?
Turbocharged engines generate more heat. If lower-than-recommended octane fuel is introduced, it would tend to ignite sooner than intended?as a result of the high heat and high compression ratio,(but we don?t really need to delve too deeply into these things for this article). The point is, this can cause a bad phenomenon in the engine called ?knock.?

      Knock-knock-knock

Engine knock can eventually lead to engine failure if left untreated. Vehicles made from 1996 onwards are equipped with something called a knock sensor that does its best to combat knock, but it comes at a price. If you were to use a lower-than-recommended octane fuel in this case, the knock sensor would reduce the power of the engine in an effort to prevent damage.
As a result, the down-on-power engine would need to work harder, which works against the fuel-economy benefits of having a small turbocharged engine in the first place. So, it?s a balancing act. If your car recommends high-octane fuel, do what it says. If not, then feel free to use whatever grade of fuel you like?for most drivers, we say the cheaper the better.
Ultra 94 is the highest octane fuel available for road cars in Ontario. Otherwise, 91 octane fuel is common across the country, and is often the recommended fuel for performance cars.

And this is from one of the warranty manager in Jakarta (translated by google from indonesian):

JAKARTA - Since its launch in 2016 IIMS ago, the All New Honda Civic Turbo up today assessed getting a pretty good response. Because, if look at the numbers on the number of reservations for the sedan Honda's claim to date sduah reached 300 units.Generation tenth Civic VTEC engine equipped with the 1.5L Turbo and Earth Dreams technology can indeed use fuel oil (BBM) to RON (research octane number) lowest 87. However, Honda recommends to keep using fuel with RON 91 upwards. As said waranty Manager Technical & Service Division of Honda Prospect Motor (HPM), Mohammed Zuhdi, that the fuel recommended Honda's latest Civic is RON 91 upwards. Zuhdi admit, indeed testing Honda globally, All New Honda Civic could still use fuel RON 87. "In certain circumstances we can use up to RON 87 fuel. Certain conditions such as in certain areas there is no better fuel than RON 87. but we recommend 91 upwards, "Zuhdi said. Preferably Zuhdi suggest, do not overuse RON fuel under 91. so, will affect all engines. Because the octane number that effect to the effect of knocking will damage the piston.

What rating/ blend we have for regular gasoline in Pakistan ? In Metro cities or small towns ?
If I put Shell's in one glass its yellowish while Caltex one is much like colorless but standardized value is 87 as per claimed by Shell, PSO and Caltex.
Even, 87 written on the Total's fuel dispenser too....but I doubt if all these are actually what they claim..!

I have read almost last 12 pages and astonished that no one mentioned the news about partial launch of higher grade RON by oil companies. For reference here is the link.
