Did a little bit research, this market (28-31 lakhs) is full of candidates. Apart from a new car what more do you get from civic?

In my opinion, it would be best to buy Prado or the C class

Stop blaming people's mindsets and launch stupid comments on "fat bank accounts", etc.

People booked 1.5T in good belief and knew the price would be above 28, as it was clearly mentioned on the prebooking forms.

I booked the Turbo version and expected price would be around 28.5.

You've to know whenever a new engine platform is introduced.....it involves cost.

R18 engine is old and 1.8 is therefore fairly priced for a compete changed model.

What's worrisome however is only the octane issue.....!

Especially for people not living in main cities.....or when Hi-octane is short in the market.

I am thinking to switch booking over to 1.8, as I can't expect to get hi-octane on longer journeys.

autophile: the rolla solidness of suspension won't be same as of Civic. You will miss rolla drive. No doubt Civic will be bit sporty but you will miss your altis on rough terrain😉

aqilbasit Premio is one heck of a car.Cannot match it with Honda. Its built quality is superb.

One day they will sell us a 30lac corolla and we will be stupid enough to buy it. For these prices, atleast they should meet international standards. whats with the cheap quality android system and optional navigation in 1.8. all these things should now be standard equipment including cruise control, airbags, paddle shift etc. Enjoy getting ripped off by the highly monopolized Pakistan Automotive industry.

My bad then in thinking that, It was what i was told by the Oil movement people. But to think that the best Byco came up with used to be 92 RON reformate I still cant fathom how they would have managed to keep up with 87

      [/QUOTE]

I have verified and it has been corrected the stipulated value was based on US R+M/2 formula. As Byco was based on a US refiner relocated in Pakistan. So in fact it does come to 82 RON (US Std) that is equivalent to 87 RON UK. Now the Turbo will require 87 RON min US std, I am not telling that the engine will not work as some other colleagues have pointed out.

Since the same was the case with the engine of 9th gen civic requiring 91 Ron fuel but ran fine on 87 ron local fuel. The point we are neglecting is that since that was a non turbo engine the probability of self ignition(knocking) was lesser and the newer engine this will be something to look out for when you want to floor the pedal and enjoy the rush.

That will take the fun away from the turbo. But if you want a daily driver with mild foot it just might work. This will be a serious concern for some one looking out for a used 1.5T as you will never know how the car was used (abused).

I dont think it has anything to do with atlas (honda) specifically. As has been mentioned (countless times now) in this thread that US 87RON = 91 EURO RON standard which is what we have been following. The video linked in this thread which has the Honda engineer specify 87 RON is from the US.

The page linked below explains why is there a difference between reported RON numbers in USA & Rest of the World (ROW). It also explains what RON numbers means for engines and how they can be boosted and what are the pros and cons of doing this:

Car Bibles : The Fuel and Engine

I am no mechanical engineer, but this page explains what high RON numbers help an engine achieve (higher compression, prevents knocking and advanced ignition timing). It is my understanding that a higher compression ration can be achieved by not only changing the RON but also by manipulating the density of the blends.

The question to ask is: Can (atlas) Honda actually tune the engine to use local 87RON? & NOT whether honda is stating a higher octane rating (RON) to manipulate sales.

Better wait but buy new tech... 1.5 turbo. It is now the real civic not the r18 leftover obsolete judaard which Honda is fixing to clear stocks.
Just wait and see the car physically. Don't overwhelm honda atlas so they take consumer needs for granted.
PKDM CIVIC X Turbo needs following in specific for Pakistani huge market:
      1. A tweeked suspension designed for Pakistani overall road conditions. ( softer absorbent like Altis ). We are less likely to corner then to hit a pothole each kilometer we drive.
      2. Better glass and body noise insulation as we have rough road turf which makes road noise eminent to frustration at high speed which we will do on turbo. Traffic rikshaw noise in urban driving.
      3. Bigger radiator to handle 45C + summer temps.
      4. ECU and fuel filter/catalytic converter modifications as per our general fuel conditions. ( Atlas was and will mint money on changing our fuel filters- imagine 30,000 cars having knocking problem and get it fixed along with tuning charges at 22 dealerships across.
      5. Glass/ windscreen tint as we have high sun/UV index.
      6. Warranty pledging free service and replacement of parts if knocking or any fuel related problem occurs to the turbo variant.
      7. Higher Ground clearance atleast 15mm so we can ride with 5 people onboard in civic. Also it can handle speed breakers we have better and prevent drivers of civic from funny snake drive maneuvers each time they face a apeed braeker.
Dear all dont overwhelm Atlas or else we all be underwhelmed in thr days to come- in terms of overpricing, overcharged services and less warranty rights.
Those who have booked blindly fine but others please wait.. Where we have waited for the whole 4 years in pathetic 9 gen.. Wait 2 months more. Let Honda work hard pledge more to sell. Its for our own good.

Fuel octane debate is now over to too much. Talk about rights and comfort we want from atlas against the stipulated steep price tag.
