Majority, predominant majority of people, companies, organisations, departments etc, etc do it. It's wrong but it's norm. So take it or shake it.

This may reduce the burden on assembly lines and there will be smooth supplies/deliveries. Apart from it Atlas will have final pricing meeting on 1st July. May be they will go for previously declared prices. Otherwise many wise prospects can easily take them to the consumer courts as they misdeclared the prices and lied to their customers. This may lead to a disastrous situation for atlas because those wise guys will not claim only one million but also markups and demurrage.

Hey Guys, I have been following this thread with great interest along with your concerns regarding various aspects of this beautiful car. Anyway today I thought I should go to the showroom and check out the car myself and I did. Got the oppertunity to test drive the RS version and I must confess, it's awesome, sheer power and it accelerates like a breeze. Interior was good and they have done amazing job with the noise reduction. I still think 30 lacs is a lot to ask for it but given the choices we have in Pakistan, this has to be the best choice. Anyone who is thinking of buying a new car won't regret their decision. Go for the Turbo variant and enjoy the beauty of the turbo engine.

      Experts opinion is requested.
As per tests 1.5T is a little better in terms of fuel economy
As far as maintainance is concerned i guess 1.5T will be requiring more bucks... reason is that its a new engine and we dont know how will it behave in our environment and also fuel issues are there... Im sure no one will be able to run 1.5T on hi-octane all the time(wont be possible coz of supply issues)

You want Atlas Marketing reading this thread to think all is hunky dory with their stupid marketing/pricing tactics? They should know their strategy has backfired spectacularly.

If (potential) customers can praise the car freely, they should be allowed to crib and point out negatives freely as well to create balance. Maybe reading the negative posts, Atlas Marketing, currently high and out of sense would come down to earth and start being realistic in their July meeting.

Secondly, my personal experience is that grande gets a bit more punch in manual drive as the drone effect of CVT is significantly reduced - this is my personal experience after driving the grande for almost 15000 km now. This we would not be able to experience on 1.8 variant as it lacks paddles. Secondly, the paddle shifters on the grande are a bit too small IMO and you really want to have long fingers for a comfortable grip on the steering while using shifters. I would request the vezel owners in the thread to share their experience with paddles (1.5T should have similar) as I am certainly more comfortable using the gear lever for manual shifts on cvti.
Lastly, and this may sound stupid but I don't have any experience of turbocharged cars, is this turbo always operational even while car is on econ mode or is it like VTEC thingy.
Opinions from experts and vezel owners would be appreciated.

Contrary to common belief that 8th and 9th gen share the same engine code. They do not. The 9th gen PKDM uses engine code R18Z1, also used in certain USDM models..

To my surprise, Atlas have used a high quality laser iridium double fine electrode NGK plug in the 9th gen.

Presumably the 10th gen might also use R18Z1.

This might be due to their poor strategy in pricing throwing people off and also due to the fact that the claim of 5000 cars booking in 10 days might be a bogus one.

You are right to some extent, they are not exactly identical but basically they are the same as per basic technology and principle wise. The basic engine type is an R18 which has further more subcategories such as R18A1, R18A2 and R18Z1. But basically its a 1.8 SOHC i-Vtec, the "R18" part is common.
If you mean they are not same because they use different spark plugs and different internal parts you're right to that extent. Because they were further tweaked as per needs.

Very well explained and I agree.

That is what I meant when I said they're different codes.

As per my sources the 5000 figure is a target of booking till official launch in Mid July, not something that has already been achieved.
What they have yet achieved is about 2400 units, almost half of what they target. My info may be wrong though.

      Project Reborn 8th Gen Civic 2007 - 272964
Exactly. I just checked a friend's 9th Gen and it does have R18z engine. Whereas in 8th Gen it was R18a. There is no difference between R18a1 and R18a2. However, there are some major internal changes between R18a and R18z. This is the primary reason that 9th Gen was able to accomplish better fuel economy as compared to the 8th Gen.
R18z is being retained in Thai, Malaysian and Indonesian models along with the introduction of 1.5L Turbocharged engine. Also, the USDM model of 2016 HR-V also has R18z under its hood.
I have made up my mind that I will change my booking to 1.8 Oriel from the 1.5 Turbo since I usually keep my cars long and prefer to keep them running top notch. So I simply cannot risk buying the 1.5L Turbo with the possibility of it being unfeasible for the Pakistani running conditions and fuel. I can live without the Paddle Shifters and Remote Start options. The basic necessities have already been included in the 1.8 Oriel like VSA, HSA(possibly), Push Start, Smart Entry, E-Brake and Auto-Brake Hold.

So the thought of buying this car is over thanks to the ridiculous pricing by Atlas, the Turbo variant will cost around 3.3 million which is not just beyond my range but also an outrageous price tag for a stripped down version.
