      Corolla 1.8 does 120 at 2k rpm
Civic should also do at 2-2.5k rpm

Funny how a company is trying to put off it's customer from one of their own product, only in Pakistan. If you have more demand, just produce more and make hay. Turbo is the future and will become mainstream in next few years. Overseas a lot of companies are putting turbo engines in everyday regular cars, Honda is not the 1st one.

There is a big difference between the current Corolla transmission and the Honda civic 9th gen (in the pictures) transmission. That could be why there is a difference of gear ratio plus there should anyway be some difference in the gear ratio with or without both having cvt.

      Salams all!

I've read through this thread and found that indeed the Octane issue has become a "dimagh ki dahi" dilemma here, especially for those like myself who already have booked the Turbo version, and those who are caught by the crease, bat down, awaiting an umpire's decision.

Well....let me say.....Honda indeed screwed up the aspirations for those who wanted top of the line Civic X. The Octane issue should have been clarified BEFORE or AT THE TIME OF taking the bookings. Yes....we can still convert the booking.....but with hearts broken.

I am of the view that instead of 1.5T, Honda should have settled for the R18 2.0, for those who wanted a power drive. OR have postponed the 1.5T venture as a whole till Govt and Petroleum companies have finalized new octane plans and better petrol is commonly available. This way....all customers would have been at par, no superiority or inferiority syndromes would have existed. As per now....you can't have top of the line version without scruples. You can't even let it go!

Let me clarify, as per my views.....NO!......Honda is not pushing for more sales of the 1.8. In that case....they'd have stopped booking of the 1.5T and not resumed it as per that letter. THE ISSUE IS GENUINE. And they don't want to be held accountable tomorrow....hence the DISCLAIMER!

For those who think that 87 Ron would suffice, because Altis Grande has similar requirements as per owner's manual, or because the 1.8 Civic X also has the 91 ron stipulation........or that the 8th gen and 9th gen thrived on 87 rons, bla, bla, bla......read my lips....THEY HAD NO TURBO involved!

It is the Turbo feature that's playing the havoc. The feature you're paying additional 3 lakhs for!

Someone here consoled himself that once Honda has enough 1.8 bookings, they'd announce " We tweaked the Turbo engine, enjoy your rides with 87 rons".....well....my friend....in that case your turbo will no longer have the 29 lakhs 174 Hp's! THAT will be the "tweak".

Now...to come to my own conclusions:

      1) This is a gross demeanor and mean marketing strategy by Honda Atlas.

      2) As long as Ron 91 won't be commonly available, the Honda 1.5T is mostly a "local car" for Isloo, Lahore, Karachi and main city residents. Can you take it to Naran, Swat, Gilgit/Baltistan or AJK with full peace of mind that you'll find the gasoline? Hence....a LOCAL car!

      3) Those still believing that 87 (Read 85 rons) would suffice the Turbo charged, will enjoy their rides mostly between home and Honda Service centers - or spend more time during out-city journeys looking for Hi-Octane gasoline stations, than pursuing the purpose for which the drove out for, in "baby Turbo"!

      4) I'd strictly not suggest rural area residents to go for the Turbo version, till better petrol is COMMONLY available. Those living IN the main cities, pretty well know, that even here, Hi-Octane is short sometimes.

Finally....the reason why I'm not backing out so far from my own booking......is simply because.....this babe is gonna be a 3rd car at home and a LOCAL one....Sadly! My Northern area journeys will have to be taken care of by the 4wd. Hence...if you're taking it as the ONLY car at home.....go for the 1.8 till petrol issue solved.....or practical reviews of the 1.5T are out.

      Regards.

But this is too high for 1.8
Altis 1.6 does120 at 2.9k so it should be better than 1.6

this "beast" and it's hp ... bhai 173 mai sai 100 bhi use nahin hungi to get from one speed breaker to the other ... i am sorry but spending above 3 mil for a brand such as CIVIC just does not makes any logic to me what so ever, another great choice would be Vezel but absolutely not a Civic in my opinion oh and did i mentioned ... at the end of the day Civic will remain a Civic ... while Audi will outclass it in every quality department ... lets not compare apples with mangoes ... no wait ... water melons here

Prosmatec is very old transmission, highly less efficient, let civic 1.8 comes with cvt, even with heavier body it will easily do 13km/l instead of 10km/l of 9th gen.

Thank you! Nice meeting you here too!

Well......this Turbo is gradually turning Caracal like.....lolzzzzz!

I opted white.....the lines show better....and later kits look more sporty in white. + easy maintenance.

I will however check the Lunar Silver at launch. It's going to be popular too.

Tenth gen is lighter than ninth gen

      Dr.Abdullah Zia
1.5turbo rpm will not stay at 2k@140km/h.

Its economical at. Cruising speeds upto 90-100km/h with calm and light foot. As its a 1500cc engine with a turbo responsible for that extra oumph... The turbo will engage as soon as the rpm exceeds 2400rpm to provide the required torque available. There isnt any switch to turn turbo off not even econ mode as its just to keep your AC function less.
The natural torque with a 1500cc vtec is well known to Honda city aspire owners.
One issue is octane fuel and the other is turbo boosting your car acceleration and fuel consumption simultaneously.
Its PAKISTAN where on highways people commonly dont watch or keep their lanes- specially truck and bus walaas. So continuous down shifts and acceleration will cause turbo to engage quite often unlike freeways expressways abroad where its less likely. Figures of 42mpg is jco8 cycle observation. In pakistani conditions a moderate average highway drive will cost 11-12 km/l and a fun drive 8-9km\l.
So high octane plus turbo punga will do pocket humla..
Or else drive like an Uncle ..slow slow steady steady. Which isnt the purpose we are buying a turbo for... Its not a twin turbo so wont be seamless and smooth on the contrary 1800cc variants will do better at highways speeds in pakistan keeping speed 120 to 130km/h range with economy. I am not saying they will be faster but smooth and economical in most pakistani drive conditions.
We seldom take cars at their limits and risk lives. Very few will take this above constant 160km/h+ and maintain on highways or give 200/h+ show off flybyes to poor Gli and city walaas while they are grunting at 130-140km/h range leaving them in envy. In nights teasing them from behind with restless H I D dippers suddenly and then disappearing flawlessly infront their vary envious eyes- we arnt gonna do that in our turbos arent we with those poor gli and vti and altis humiliating their potency and territory and self esteem.
So why buy one then.. buy a 1.8l civic x and be calm and dont get perturbed or rather infuriated when often you cant catch up with Turbo even after flooring your accelerator well in anticipation. 174 horses are gonna matter.
And unichip is in works to tweek its peak to 187 horses. It will be at a category of its own then.
