You'd be interested to know that the reason why 17" Alloys weren't given isn't because Honda wants to skimp on features - Pakistan hasn't been approved for 17" alloys by Japan owing to road conditions.

If you guys read all Octane related news.. they surfaced and spread like around the launch and after launch of Civic.. First some dealer said.. 91 is not required and its on their official pages as well. later when it was clear 91 Min required.. Honda dealer posting news from the different newspapers.. There is no official memo/ any thing from OGRA/ OMC.. All we hear it will start from October, like its just flipping a switch but it not.. a lot of technical advancement is needed and huge investments. .. I see something fishy in all this..

Like see this.. they don't even know Pakistan don't import refined fuel.. let me know if I am wrong..

well saw two civics today, 1.8 black and 1.5 modern steel. The black really looks great on it. Modern steel also looked good . Shame that the driver (a teen) was literally abusing the car, crossing in a non existent 3rd lane and not really slowing down for speed bumps.

Sorry, i should have clarified - 17" is not approved for sedans. HRV is different. Even IMC offers 17" on fortuner.

As I said it could be.. the reason.. and I am not much worried about it.

But skipping steering wheel controls, auto dimming rear view mirror, power driving seat, trunk liner , auto headlights and vanity lights.. I don't know what was problem with that.. I mean no local conditions stops them at least putting a carpet in trunk, I am sure Atlas have some justification for Liner as well..

And local fuel conditions with min 91 required.. what Honda think about it? Did they shared any authentic document with sale of Turbo Civic that required fuel will be available everywhere or we should say Civic Turbo is just a metropolitan car..? If it is than road conditions in Metro areas of Pakistan are I think much better than roads in NYC, which is called potholes capital of the world..

On the side note HRV is just a Honda Fit/ Jazz.. people think it's a SUV.. but in fact its not even a regular crossover.. it's just a compact crossover share platform with City, Fit/Jazz

17" is more suitable for Pakistani road conditions than 16".

May be General Tyres refused Atlas to make 17" tyre for them?

and then directors at Atlas thought, just leave it yaar, we ain't importing it, mango men aren't gonna say a word.

      May be...

Pakistan import Crude and local refiniries refine it.. I don't think Pakistan import refined fuel.. that would make fuel much expensive.. if even they do it would be very less volumes and I don't think so it goes to consumers directly..

Any experts on this ? Please correct me if I am wrong.

      Thanks

But skipping steering wheel controls, auto dimming rear view mirror, power driving seat, trunk liner , auto headlights and vanity lights.. I don't know what was problem with that.. I mean no local conditions stops them at least putting a carpet in trunk, I am sure Atlas have some justification for Liner as well..
Product spec selections are done 2-3 years before intro of new model. Honda relies on feedback from its dealers for end-user preferences over different specs - it may be the case that consumer preferences are different now from what they were during spec selection.
Another reason could be cost cutting for margin reasons- localization of parts for honda civic may be low which would impact costs significantly - so they decide to cut on some specs. There could be vendor QC issues too.

Bro I don't work for Honda. I'm an auto enthusiast and keep tabs on local industry - like you do. But I disagree about road conditions in Pakistani metropolitan areas - we don't have potholes - we have cliffs! You need to travel on Karachi's national highway (i.e. the road joining Shara-e-Faisal from the airport) to know what i'm talking about.
