1.5T is expensive than even 2.0 NA engine in US and please keep in mind it's not because US Honda has paid duties on importing them.
A Kg of Iron (loha) costs 86 Rupees and would you compare it with even 10 grams of gold? So my friends the 1.5 maybe a 1.5 but its a Turbo Charged engine so I don't understand how people are expecting it to be cheaper than a naturally aspirated engine even if bigger CC

1.5 ltr car should be cheaper than a 1.8 ltr just like 2.4 ltr costs 3 times its actual worth. It's the taxes, accord's engine is not made of gold.

So you are basically saying that locally manufactured cars should have the same duty structure as imported? If you agree to it we can request the government to imply this phenomenon so you may be able to buy a 1.8 Civic and Grande for 45 Lakhs. Please know the difference.
Secondly if i agree to your formula of smaller engine being cheaper again and same duty on local plus imported then that means a Vezel 1.5 should be not much different than a 1.5 Aspire City.
Third: this is exactly what i was trying to convey earlier, do you expect a rather expensive turbocharged technolgy to be cheaper than a lower cost naturally aspirated engine. If i follow this criteria a 3500cc Ferrari should be cheaper than a 4000cc Prado.

It's not about engine cc being smaller. It's the end result of horsepower that you have to pay the price for. You believe 174hp (1.5T) are supposed to be cheaper than 141hp (1.8NA)?

And just for the record retail price of Civic and Accord in US is not 3 times its hardly 1.4 times. And just because it's an imported unit in Pakistan it's 4 times the price of Civic not because it has a 2.4 engine. So are you still suggesting local cars and imported cars should have same duty and taxes. May GOD help us if that ever happens.
By no means whatsoever, a 1.5 Turbo could not be cheaper in cost than a 1.8 NA.

Base model would be from 22. Top of the line 26.
Beyond this they won't remain competitive

You have got it all wrong mate. Sorry for not being elaborate enough.

Like you mentioned the taxes on imported cars. There are taxes on locally assembled cars as well, and what I tried to point out that the tax on a 1.5 ltr engine car would be less than a 1.8 ltr car. That lower tax would help bring down the retail price as compared to if they use a 1.8 ltr engine in the 10th gen. The tax difference might only be few thousand rupees; lets say 50,000, but still that helps bring down the car retail price by Rs. 50,000.

Keeping the same tax pattern, 1.0 ltr car should be much cheaper than a 1.5 ltr engine car and also 1.3 ltr engine car.

FYI, I am referring to the same car with different engines. I am not comparing a car from one category to another.

There is only $1160 difference between base EX model with CVT and 2.0NA engine, and the base EX-T model with CVT and 1.5T engine. Most people see the price difference and just assume it's because of the 1.5T engine. It's not just that, EX-T offers a lot more.

      example:
17 inch alloys compared to 16 inch on EX
      fog lights
      decklid spoiler
      Dual-Zone Automatic Climate Control System
      Heated Front Seats

Just the engine upgrade would only add $300-500 max, and that is my point; 1.5T only costs few hundred dollar more than the 2.0NA, and those few hundred dollars could be covered by what we expect to save on taxes being a smaller engine.

This conclusion backs up a report that came out many months ago claiming Honda Atlas would introduce the new model at same existing price of outgoing 9th gen.

So in my opinion based on all what I have said above, there is a good chance that we get 1.5T as standard at the same existing prices of 9th gen.

Adding to that, I would like to see a 1.0T version offered at around 18-19 lacs figure. Not just because I would be able to buy a fuel efficient civic at cheaper price, but it will give a very tough time to Corolla's 1.3 ltr gli and 1.6 ltr Altis.

I know people don't like the idea of cheaper civic model because it would become affordable and lose its level exclusivity; to them, all I have to say is that It's just plain selfish, grow up and stop being a show off.

1.0 will be offered in European 5 door Civic; which is a hatchback.. not sedan as far as I have been told at local Honda. Europe might see a sedan version of civic for this new generation as a 1.5T where Civic was always as hatchback. Sedan with 1.0T has very slim chances.

The other applications of 1.0L turbo is Honda'S upcoming S1000 , a bigger brother of S660

Sales figures were not bad and 9th gen was not a flop car as people like to call it. It didn't get a good response at the time of the launch due to dull exterior looks but sales went right back up after they introduced the facelift.

I am just saying if they could put a 1.3ltr 93 hp engine in a sedan civic hybrid, they can put 127 hp 1.0ltr engine too. I am not saying it will happen, but possibility is there.

If they really give 15" rims with those stupid Eurostars, please don't forget to team up with me for not someone but may a couple of someones.
A 15" rim was not even acceptable on 9th gen with bigger wheel arches which made 15s look like a rikshaw tyre underneath a car.
