    Default Civic 95 engine swap

    Dear members.

So I have a weak stock carby D15 installed in my car, and after the gasket is gone 2nd time, the mechanic has proposed that I change the engine. As for the mechanic, he is considered quite reliable in the market.

Now since the engine needs to be changed, I am thinking to jump to D15b dual vtec. I talked to the mechanic's engine guy in shershah, and he says engine with wiring and ecu for 70k.

Considering your experiences, please guide me if thats a worthy option, and/or give suitable suggestions. Will it increase the resale value of the car, or devalue it? From what I think, the value will be increased of the car, but to those who know the potential of the dual vtec (correct me if im wrong).

The guy also gave below options.

    1. D15b non vtec for 55k
    2. some efi engine (probably d15b non vtec) which will be combined with current carburetor in some way (if I head him correctly). Dont exactly recall the price for this option.

Looking forward for expected assistance. Also let me know if maintenance costs will increase with vtec.

    Regards.

So i visited Vicky. He explained a lot of things, and plans to inspect my car starting from ecu scanning to complete wiring (or rewiring).

That would set me back at least 12k + any expense on any hardware. Is it worth it?

Right now vtecs arent engaging, acceleration is slow under 1500rpm and quite sluggish on a/c under 1500rpm, no system to increase acceleration when a/c is switched on, no plugs to connect any scanner for checking codes, etc.

Well going to him was worthwhile for me. But yes he is expensive. Its basically your choice, if you are satisfied with the cars performance then its okay. But looking at your post you are not happy so your choice.

I found a thread for you see if it helps.

    D15b 3 stage:running a manual setup with auto ecu,done and great! - D-series.org

Did you search for the manual transmission ecu on ebay.

I am thinking about it. Since vtecs are not engaging and vehicle's performance is not what it should be, if I dont get the required work done then I could have settled for non vtec engine in the first place. Hence, I will certainly get the work done soon since for me its a necessity.

I will check out that thread.

Not on ebay, but im having it searched in Japan...both the ecu and eg6 cluster. Cluster already found, but ecu still to be found. I am surprised the ecu is difficult to find in Japan as well :/

Edit: I have read that thread before. He is using a manual ecu, but he thinks its auto.

Along with ebay search amazon as well, or other car parts website of UK and US. Or try contacting a pakwheeler by the name of rozzzzz. He has many engines I saw in a thread.

One more thing I would advise you Xulfiqar bhai's AC person sabir, at farooq-e-azam mosque was telling back in the days he and Xulfiqar bhai used to do a lot of modifications including wiring and turbo charged applications on many cars. So he might be able to help you Sabir bhai phone 0300-2152054.

ok i checked on google and that mosque is like 18km away from my place. I wonder if he will be available on Sunday. Btw, you are asking me to contact him with respect to my car's AC? or everything?

Talking to him first would be better than going all the way, but I need to know what to talk to him about

Also, I forgot to mention, Vicky plans to keep my car for 3 days!

Talk to sabir bhai on phone then, not regarding your AC but regarding your wiring issue or whatever the problem is. As I mentioned he and xulfiqar bhai used to correctly wire a lot of cars. So explain your problem and hopefully he can guide you.

3 days thats a lot but if you want it diagnosed correctly then thats your best bet.

Talked to Sabir. He says wiring wala will have to do it. The vacuum pipes coming out of IM will not be used, but AC RPM will be controlled via ECU only.

I asked him if he would do the job, and he said he only does AC work.

So i guess Vicky is the guy for the job. Talked to Vicky again today, he will confirm me next Sunday as to when I should take my car to him. Time to wait now.
